Appeasing 8elements
Apr. 20th, 2007 01:59 pmThe content-free parade continues! This is a little game that
8elements posted and I responded to, so she's insisting I post as well. Also, she associates me with Magneto. Words cannot express how completely excellent I find that.
Anyway. Here's the game:
You comment here, and I will:
1. Tell you why I friended you.
2. Associate you with something - a song, a color, a photo, etc.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Write you a short poem (probably) (you should be aware that it will probably be rude.)
5. Associate you with a character.
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7. Make some sort of commentary about your LJ icons.
UNRELATED BONUS MATERIAL: Did you know that the ADF has a Vice-Archdruid? You know, not quite Arch- material. That's way funnier to me than it probably ought to be.
EDIT: This whole thing might take a while. Poetry, as you probably know if you've EVER EFFING MET ME, is not a thing that I do easily or well. It doesn't quite make blood spring from my forehead, but pretty close. Still, the challenge is compelling. So post, I'll get to you, but not necessarily today.

Date: 2007-04-20 07:53 pm (UTC)2. I most strongly associate you with oatmeal cookies and the Buchanan tartan.
3. I like your dry wit, and your ability to craft a phrase for maximum punch.
4. (Ah, doggerel.)
On heathered hills she sits and sighs,
Ogling now and then
The bulging arms and straining backs
Of caber-tossing men.
Her thoughts fly forth an hour or two
Towards the coming night
When for her favor and her smiles
These lads will surely fight.
How they'll posture, how they'll preen -
They'll build a fine facade
But after all their posing,
She'll go home with her god. :)
5. Professor Snape, without a doubt.
6. (Okay, this is probably not an 'always wanted to know', it's more like a 'want to know right at the moment'.) If you were God-Emperor of the public school system, what's the first thing you would change?
7. Being as I'm not so good with faces, I'm curious -- is the guy in your "funny is the new sexy" icon

Date: 2007-04-20 08:47 pm (UTC)2. The Pink Gun.
3. You're all sorts of fun to be around. Also, you have a great
ass.
4. (don marquis style)
jax is in motion
always quick to bring
a girlish squeal
a flash of purple nails
the rolling bounce of hips
the blush and duck behind
the advance and retreat
the solid piece of mind
the quick phone call and
the slam of cell doors
i think she wants
the brightness of justice
to shine in her cherry cola hair
5. Samwise Gamgee. It's the whole-hearted, slightly creepy devotion to Frodo.
6. What were you like as a kid?
7. Your 'We're gonna have an ORGY!' icon cracks me the fuck up every time.

Date: 2007-04-20 09:06 pm (UTC)2. The Celtic Battle Kitchen. Also, Cherry Nyquil.
3. I like the fact that you are totally competent at any number of things. Also, your willingness to sing loudly, to make the ancestors regret it. And your moments of flirty Nik. Fun, and often totally unexpected.
4. (Haiku, for you. Like Brulen would write?)
Poised, waiting, transfixed
Examining every path
Which way will she run?
5. Celadon Toadstool.
6. How did you come to cease being Catholic?
7. Where did you get the 'I have every bad spelling' icon? What is that from?
Brulen would adore that haiku.

Date: 2007-04-20 09:22 pm (UTC)2. IHOP, actually. But only because of the pajama thing.
3. I like your intensity and your curiosity. Also, you are a damned fine Apples to Apples player.
4. [I'll have to get back to you on this one... watch this space.]
5. You remind me more of an archetype than a particular character -- you're the auntie or friend of the family that shocks the naive young heroine with her vast experience of the world.
6. I hear that you are a writer in the professional sense of the word. What do you write?
7. I really like your icon of the two women arranged so geometrically on the floor - did you paint that?

Date: 2007-04-20 09:41 pm (UTC)2. I associate you with the phrase "Don't click the internet!". This may be because that's often what I say after clicking links in your journal. :)
3. I like the way you can translate something complex and abstract into something clear, readable, and concrete. I also like your affection for odd music videos (enjoyed the Dionysus selection you harvested yesterday).
4. [I'm trying to decide between filthy limerick and something more stately and uplifting. If you're lucky, you might get both. Watch this space.]
5. Mostly you remind me of Dionysus. But I'm thinking that probably doesn't count. And other than that, you mostly remind me of historical people. So I don't know.
6. When you went to Kemetic Orthodoxy for a time, what was it about that faith that appealed to you? ALSO: A long time ago you talked about writing an epic about the Olympians and US history. In it you mentioned the story of how the spirit of the Mississippi fell in love with Jeff Buckley's voice and drowned him. Are you ever going to write that? And if you aren't going to write it, would you mind if I wrote something on a similar theme (not the whole thing, just that bit)?
7. You don't have nearly enough icons. Of course, it is always easy to pick your posts out of the list...

Date: 2007-04-23 03:24 pm (UTC)1. I friended you because you impress the hell out of me. Also, you seem like my sort of people.
2. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - "Are You the One That I've Been Waiting For?" (This strikes me as your theme song. Maybe it's not, but that's the impression that I get.)
3. I like the way you look beneath things to find the possible stories. You seem to have the ability to shake an adventure out of everything, and I like that. Also, of course, you're a brilliant writer and you have an excellent eye for composition and color.
4. [I'll come back to this one -- I'm a little embarrassed to write for you, you're so good. So I'm working on that.]
5. Mostly I associate you with your own characters. Other than that, you're all comic book heroes -- you're a little John Constantine, a little Nightcrawler, a little John Hartigan, maybe?
6. Since I know very little about you, I have any number of questions. I'll start easy: How old are you?
7. Is there a story that goes with the ESP Orgy icon?

3. I very much like the wench factor you have going on. Also, you're extremely reliable, which is a plus.
4. (It's more like a drinking song than a poem, but that's okay. Drinking songs are easier.)
Let's raise a glass to the lady
The lass with the curly brown hair
Let's raise a glass to the lady
They call her the Madame of There
When you say 'Don't go There'
She already is
She spends so much time There
She opened a biz.
You'll find when you go There
She's waiting for you
So if you must go There
Please bring her her due
Let's raise a glass to the lady
The lass with the curly brown hair
Let's raise a glass to the lady
They call her the Madame of There
5. D'Artagnan.
6. What were you like as a kid?
7. I think you need a Mad Scientist Union icon.

Date: 2007-04-23 05:12 pm (UTC)2. I associate you with flannel, in general.
3. I like your enthusiasm, and your ability to shrug off the various slings and arrows that come your way. Also, you're a lot of fun to game with.
4. Haiku Again!
Clever dragon sleeps
Atop a golden mountain
Dreaming scaly dreams.
5. Goomba the Barbarian. (Is that cheating?)
6. When the girls get old enough to sort themselves out in the evenings, will you go back to doing theatre? (Also, because you are dragonish, Do Virgins Taste Better Than Those Who Are Not?)
7. I really like the icon you used for the comment I'm replying to. It's fetishtastic.

Date: 2007-04-23 05:57 pm (UTC)2. You get brown and green. And green and green. And brown and brown.
3. It's not like I can just pick one thing I like about you. Today I am delighted by your cleverness and your inventiveness. Also, your ass. Do you accept compliments about these things, or is it still only your hair and things you do with your mouth? Because if I have to limit myself to your hair and things you do with your mouth, I think I could still write an ample amount on that.
4. Ah, finally, a rude limerick. :)
There once was a blond-headed beauty
Known for his attention to duty
Yes, he was upstanding
But his girls were demanding
That he be more attentive to booty.
(You may get bonus poetry, for lo, this is not exactly appropriate, but I couldn't pass up the duty call/booty call rhyme.)
5. Fox Mulder. You should not have to ask why.
6. What do you want most in the world right now? (I know, I ask you that all the time, but it continues to be relevant to my interests.)
7. I wish you would remake your "stone deaf" icon so that it would be more readable.

2. Ani diFranco - Fuel. (I bet somebody else said that already.)
3. I like the full-on 'this is how it is' stance you have about everything. One never has to wonder, "What does
4.
Camo pants, black top.
What color are her panties?
Maybe she has none. :-P
5. Hrm... I'm thinking Rogue, of X-Men fame.
6. This is really a thing that I've always wanted to know for the last few days... When you say you slept with
7. You could use some more icons! But I guess that would mean you'd have to pay for an account.

3. I like that you are so totally cool and competent about everything -- anything that goes down, I trust you to handle it well.
4. I'm working on something elemental for you here... check back later, ok?
5. Mama, from Chicago. Not that I'm implying you're corrupt, just very in-charge and present.
6. How's the recovery coming? (Again, something I've always wanted to know for about 24 hours... 'always' is pretty flexible when you're me.)
7. Are you aware that the Buddha has no head in your icon?
