Shiny things post
Dec. 6th, 2010 09:49 amI have some new shiny things in my Etsy shop. Also, after years of using etsy, I've recently realized that they have a little flash widget that shows off your stuff on other sites. So, here's a preview:

Cool stuff I saw at Dragon*Con, 2010
Sep. 9th, 2010 08:17 pmHerein are contained links to cool things I saw at Dragon*Con, as the title says. I do this because 1) I think you might like to see cool stuff, and 2) I get business cards and fliers from people at Con, but I don't have a good place to keep them, so they tend to get lost. Here, then, I have a digital record. Anyway, onwards, to the cool stuff!
ART
MUSIC
CLOTHING/COSTUMES
GAMING
... That doesn't seem like nearly enough. I may be missing some cards. Hrm. I wonder where they went.
ART
- Studio Hibernacula shop and site with gallery. Illustration, comics, mixed media, jewelry, &c. featuring keys, monsters, and Rasputin, among other things.
- The Foundation of Arcane Enquiries - pinned faeries and the occasional other creature.
- Dream Muse Designs - fused glass beads and jewelry.
- Peter Mohrbacher - paints strange angels.
- Green Dragon - Fantasy seed beads. Not really my thing, but impressively well-made and worth a look.
- Echo Chernik - Aw, you know who Echo Chernik is, right?
- Rough Canvas - Dirty gay fanart pencil sketches.
MUSIC
- Urizen - video game space metal band whose performances include guys dressed like robots, mutants, etc.
- Attention System - these guys have a sort of prog rock meets early Nine Inch Nails feel.
CLOTHING/COSTUMES
- Delicious Boutique - Gorgeous leatherwork, clothing, and corsetry that I totally can't afford.
- Passional - corsetry and fetish wear, allegedly running up to size 8x.
- SighCo - tee-shirts and sundry. I am still a fan.
GAMING
- Third Eye Games - Publisher of Apocalypse Prevention Inc., a monster-hunter RPG that I'd like to get my hands on.
- Evil Hat - Publisher of several delicious RPGs, including the new Dresden Files RPG that I'd really really like to get my hands on. (I almost bought it at the convention, but the books weigh like 40 lbs apiece, and there was no way I was going to carry them around all day. I still have the $$ I was going to spend on them, though...)

Shiny things!
Oct. 7th, 2009 11:56 amSince I'm home with the sickness, I figured I'd do something useful with my day. I updated my Etsy shop with the new shinies. Anybody want to buy shinies? I'll wipe them down with sanitizer before I send them to you. :)

On the goodness of trains
Jul. 1st, 2009 08:03 pmHaving heard that I liked trains, the universe (with the help of some of you!) has lovingly provided me with much train-based joy.
First,
primitivepeople rode the very sexy High Speed One, and posted lovely pictures.
Then,
greektoomey pointed me towards The Train Suite I: Viscous Oil & Persimmon Tea, which includes the lovely bit of Palimpsest I'm so in love with about the trains of heaven, and also some very nice train backing vocals.
And then!
corwin00, over on his Facebook, shared this amazing paper city, with, oh yes my friends, a working paper train. I will be very disappointed in you if you don't click that, because if you don't, you will have willfully missed out on a thing of intricate and frankly fucking impressive beauty.

Best of the F-List today
Mar. 24th, 2009 08:41 pm1. Thai Spider-Man Saves Autistic Boy. Firefighter uses superhero costume to talk a scared boy off a ledge. Alleges that he keeps Spider-Man costume in his locker at work "to liven up school fire drills". We here at Featherynscale Industries are suspicious, but impressed. You go, cosplay guy!
2. "Sometimes the best news is that a story makes no news." Seventh-grade math teacher invites whole class to his commitment ceremony, nobody thinks it's that big a deal. Bonus points: 1. When asked "were you surprised to learn your teacher was gay?", seventh graders responded: “He’s not gay,” said Japhet Guzman, 12. “No,” agreed a lanky 13-year-old who walked with a bit of a tough-guy swagger, “he’s not gay. He’s bisexual. Why don’t you ask him?” 2. Bisexual math teacher is tremendously cute. Of course, he's a bisexual math teacher, so I may have some bias in that assessment.

Jewelry for sale
Jan. 22nd, 2009 03:34 pmI'm getting ready to post some new stuff to my Etsy shop. I figured I'd give you guys a chance to look at it first, that way I can save on listing fees and you can save on shipping if you find something you can't live without. (It also saves me the trouble of trying to write a compelling Etsy description.)
Take a look over here, and let me know if there's anything you're interested in, will you?
(Also note, the new camera does a much better job with macro shots than the old one ever did. I am pleased with this turn of events.)

Whiskey, Rye Whiskey, oh Whiskey I Cry...
Oct. 17th, 2008 07:34 amAnd I thought spending my money on whisky would be frivolous...
Just goes to show there are some markets that trade on something other than fear... the desire to get blitzed so that you feel no fear! *grin* Happy Friday.
