Just for reference, who's got an InsaneJournal? I know [livejournal.com profile] catvincent, [livejournal.com profile] rfunk, and [livejournal.com profile] ysabel do.

I'm not leaving yet (my LJ is paid through November of next year), but if you all leave, I want to know where you're going. I have a feeling that will be it, so I snagged an account over there. It's the same username, if you're there and want to add me.

The Featherynscale Show will not be rating itself. Instead, we will continue with the current program policies, which is to say that if there's anything we don't want the whole interwebs, teeming with 13-year-old perverts, to read, we will simply be locking the fucking post.

(We do not mind if the 13-year-old perverts read the word fucking. We are pretty sure they know it already.)

Passed on from [livejournal.com profile] starstraf & friends, some things you might not know about the new content-flagging OMG think of the children initiative (unless you're one of those types who spends a lot of time investigating the nooks and crannies of your LJ-settings):

"Some of you may know that you can now set your journal to either "Adult content" (which blocks viewers under 18 from viewing) or "Adult concepts" (which blocks readers under 14). There are also options to flag someone journal as "adults only", which puts it into the queue to the moderators who will look at it and flag it for you.

As a default setting, they have EVERY SINGLE JOURNAL set to filter out the "adult content" setting! So if your friends try to do the right thing and mark their porny LJ's appropriately, you CAN'T SEE THEM until you change your viewing settings. Which is kind of hard to figure out how to, even if you know you have to in the first place.

Go to your User Options page, and click on Journal - settings. The Viewing Options page will appear, and all the way at the bottom is a section called "AdultContent Options". Your "Safe Search Options" has been set to "use moderate filtering - filters explicit and adult content".

So if someone on your F-list has recently dropped off the map and you have no idea why, try going here and changing your settings. Otherwise, if their LJ is set to "adult" you won't be able to see any of their public entries on your friends page."

It's filter update time -- reducing misdirected content since 2006. I've got four filters going currently, and am adding two new ones. If you're on the local events filter, you're going to read about things happening in Kansas City. If you're on the Discordian filter, you're going to read ... well, it's sort of hard to say. If you're on the deep Pagan woowoo filter, you're going to get stuff about rituals and divinations and other religious stuff. If you're on the fiction filter, you'll get my occasional sad attempts at writing. If you're on the Balderdash filter, you get Balderdash. If you're on the Subconscious Theater filter, you get dreams.

So pick your filters, kids, and spare yourself time and trouble. If you don't respond, I decide what I want you to be on. Ha. :-P

Last night, I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] wildnsquirrelly, who expressed regrets over the usual content of my subconscious, and asked if I didn't ever have any really good dreams, the sort where one has wild succulent sex with people one would never really get to screw, and so on. I told him that I do, but that I don't usually post them on LJ. He says, "Oh, okay," and moves on.

[livejournal.com profile] triadruid picked up the thread this morning: "Why don't you post that? In fact, you hardly ever mention anything in your LJ about sex at all. It's not like anybody minds. You post all this awful stuff in detail, things that make you feel worse, but you don't post about things that make you feel better." He goes on to say that my LJ is like the conversations you have with your parents when you've first moved away to college; they say "What are you doing?", and you, percieving that they don't want to know about your frat parties, drug experimentation, intense work with community theater, and other vices, say "Nuthin'..." and drag your feet.

And that could be true. I could be selectively reporting my crap events, leaving out whole worlds of happy times. But I kind of figure that you don't want to know about my sex life. Or that the other people involved in my sex life would perhaps prefer that I didn't discuss it. Or that posting about one's own sex life is attention-whoring behavior. Or that I wouldn't be able to write about sex in an entertaining manner. Or any number of other things. So if you were wondering why, that's why.

We're back! Did you miss us?

[livejournal.com profile] kittenpants, [livejournal.com profile] triadruid and I spent the last week in Key West, almost completely without wires (would have been completely completely without wires, but [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants wanted to try a new bread recipe, which she had to go to an internet cafe to look up). I've backread a teensy tiny bit, but not much, so if anything really important happened in your journal, or anything that you want commentary on, might you be so kind as to drop us a link?

I'll have a post about the trip later, possibly with pictures. I say possibly because once again I have entered the season of concentrated entropy towards technological devices, and my digital camera died mid-photo at the Key West Butterfly Conservatory. I'll see if I can revive it later today.

EDIT: Also,

When there's no more room in hell, the featherynscale will walk the earth.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, featherynscale sent to me...
Twelve riddles drumming
Eleven tricksters learning
Ten dreams a-shapeshifting
Nine books kissing
Eight monsters a-gifting
Seven puzzles a-storytelling
Six flaunts a-biting
Five pa-a-a-aradigm shifts
Four third ways
Three fucking magicians
Two progressive politics
...and an improvisation in an androgyny.
Get your own Twelve Days:

In other news, what the fuck? I go away for a couple of hours, and I come back and LJ is all different. That's pretty cool, actually, and I like that where you're posting has migrated to somewhere where one can take notice of it. On the other hand, putting security level down at the bottom of the form will inevitably create more of those charming little encounters where you post to everyone instead of the one or three people to whom you want to address your requests for hot messy circus sex. But that's all part of the fun, right?

Administrative note:

I've set up the filters I posted about yesterday. Here's what's what: If you asked to be on the local events filter, or if you're local and didn't ask to be taken off it, you're on it. If you asked to be on the Discordia filter, or I thought you were into that sort of thing and you didn't disabuse me of the notion, you're on it. Same deal with the pagan filter. The fiction filter, I figure I shouldn't inflict that sort of thing on people unless they ask, so if you asked, you're on it, and if you didn't, you're not.

If you change your mind, comment any time and I'll move you appropriately.

Also, there was a movement to be filtered out of posts on dreams/dream analysis. If you would also like to not see those on your friends list, comment here, and I'll make a filter for that.

I expect I'll be updating my user info now.

Also, I am home with the ick today, so am mostly available by IM.

I have typically followed the thought that if you don't want to read something in my journal, you'll just scroll past it and ignore it. But lately, it seems like it would be more polite to set up some filters, especially as I think that I might start posting some things here that I traditionally have not. So, do me a favor, would you, and make a note of what you would like to read, and what you would prefer not to. If you choose yes on any of the following, I will add you. If you choose no, I will not add you, and will, in fact, remove you if you're currently on that filter. If you click that you don't care, I will add you if I want to, or not, if I don't. Thanks for your time, I'm trying to make my little corner of livejournal a better place.
