I have, in my usual helpful manner, managed to make myself ill. I will spare you the details of the ill, but will say it pretty much means I'm at the house, trying to lay low for today. Maybe try to get some work done on the media for the Spring Bazaar. Maybe try to clean the house a bit.

On the other hand, triadruid has left me alone in the house with 1/4 mile of heavy-gauge wire. I find this to be unreasonably interesting. There could be sculpture. It could happen.

Anyway, I'll mostly be around today, looking for a distraction. Feel free to IM me, or something.

Also, feel free to send me a Valentine, if you're the sort of person who participates in Valentines. I could use the love. :)

My brain is running oddly today. Yesterday, too. So people who are waiting on questions from me re: my last post will probably have to keep waiting until I can get back on track.

Last night I had a dream in which I was defending the use of masks in classical greek theatre to someone who was insisting that masks did not exist until the Renaissance. Very frustrating, and no research material is available in dreams.

Failed to get a massage from starwyse, even though I had an appointment. Work went to hell in a bucket at about 3 p.m. and I got out of the office late, then sat in traffic forever and a day. Still made it to the Social Justice meeting, though.

Social Justice is working on sending care packages to pagan soldiers (so if you happen to be or have been a pagan soldier, I'd sort of appreciate hearing what you think would be good to send in such a package). Highlight of the meeting was iron_clad dropping by, and getting to watch him ride away on zerself's little scooter. That's a day's worth of funny, right there.

Yesterday's random poll went well. Serving in heaven barely topped reigning in hell, which was fun. Also, I was the only person who thought it might be better to live on your knees than to die on your feet. My reasoning: as long as I'm living on my knees, there's a better than average chance I can find a way to make the other bastard die on his. I'm pretty patient and resourceful like that.

The rest of yesterday, however, was pretty much a wash. Sinus headache of doom, unexpected nausea, feverbright perception, wobbly on my feet, lack of ability to process things in the right sequence, and so on. The last thing I needed to be doing was teaching a class on ritual. Ha! So that, of course, is exactly what I did. So this post is by way of apology to the students. kittenpants held the class together pretty well, but I was No Help. Feh.

On the upside, I'm feeling much better today. mesniu left me a very entertaining message last night about going to Gnostic Mass tonight. I wish I could go, but I'm already double-booked. (Sadness!) (Actually, I'm feeling a little manic today. Massive changes in input can do that to me.)

I am not usually of the opinion that imagination is a resource that one can become depleted of, but after this weekend, I'm reconsidering that possibility.

That was my weekend, how about yours?

The way it was supposed to happen: Friday, at noon, MS is supposed to come by and pick up kittenpants. They're going to run some errands, and then head out to St. Louis, where on Saturday, we were going to attend an event being held by St. Louis Mysteries. They were going early to set up, and also to deliver a newfie puppy to its new people, who were coincidentally in St. Louis. The puppy had been rescued from the pound, where it was on a 10-day road to being put down -- it had been taken from the pound previously, and bitten the person, who had then returned it to the pound. Apparently, this is always a death sentence for a dog, nevermind the fact that this is a 4 month old puppy. Go figure. So MS is saving this dog by taking it to St. Louis.

The plan from there is that triadruid and I will get off work Friday at 5:30, and then drive to St. Louis and meet kittenpants and MS. We would then stay overnight with one of the folk organizing this thing, get up in the morning, spend the day attending and leading workshops, do a big ritual in the evening, and then drive home Saturday night.

Friday night, oreibasia was supposed to come around so that we could talk about Dionysos, but she had some car issues and didn't show. Nobody else showed either, which doesn't bode really well for the enterprise, but whatever. It's still an interesting concept.

Saturday, triadruid and I went over to help capriciouslass sort out her new place. We painted, sealed cracks, peeled up truly foul carpet tape, wired lights and hung ceiling fans. We also got to watch liquidfun light himself up a couple of times while working on the wiring. So that's good times. I enjoy doing home repair that I know how to do, which leads me to believe that I should learn how to do more of it. Maybe in my next life.

Sunday I dropped off kittenpants at Gaia to prep for ritual, and I went down to JoAnn's Fabric, where they were having a massive sale on beads and associated paraphenalia. I spent about $45, and got about $200 worth of stuff, which was nice. I think we now have enough materiel to do this Prayer Beads workshop on the 13th. Then, off to ritual, which was about escaping perfectionism. I worry that we do too much work on letting people forgive themselves for not being perfect/good enough/whatever, and not enough on getting people to strive for improvement. But whatever. The ritual was solid, anyway, and for some people, liberation from the ideal frees them up to actually do something instead of wandering around paralyzed by their inability to be ideal. All good in the end. Came home, made some example sets for the Prayer Beads thing, drank the wine we bought for the Thiasos Lampteros meeting that didn't happen.

Tonight, we're planning a Labyrinth walk ritual for two weeks out. Tomorrow, orcjohn and I are doing finance and tax stuff for Gaia. Then, I have two nights off to finish up the Prayer Beads talk with kittenpants, and then we're going to St. Louis to do the workshop. Organized religion, like a gas, will expand to use up all available space.

I don't think I can do Santa Flaunt after all. We were going to do it on 1/13, but now kittenpants and I have to be in St. Louis that day. The next best day was 1/20, but apparently the Kansas City Mystery School is meeting that night and will need to be fed dinner. That sort of squeezes out the Flaunt, I think. If other people would like to do the Flaunt, they are welcome to do so, but I don't think we can come. :(

It's very cool that we are stepping up our involvement in the greater pagan community and getting to do some teaching in other places, but I can see that this will mean less time for general fun. Why can't we get more weeks in the year, I ask you?

The roads are covered in frozen shite, I've got a sore throat, a nasty cough and a fever, and on top of that, FIVE, count-em FIVE of my 30 Winter Bazaar vendors have canceled or strongly think they might not be able to make it.

I think I might go crawl in a hole and die now.

I am definitely not going to work today.

Feh.

I ran out of meds yesterday. This is not a big thing. Just call and refill, right? Sure.
Except that I took my empty med bottle and pulled the sticker with the prescription number off of it, so that we could store glitter in it at the office. I threw the sticker away. I are smart. Godsdammit.

In other news, Winter Bazaar is 12 days away. I have practically no tables. I haven't sent vendor packets yet. I was going to do packets last night, mais non. I had a Yule planning meeting. So they will probably get done tonight. Right between going to the post office, going to the pharmacy, going to the grocery, and making something to take to Thanksgiving on Thursday. Oh yes. What a week it is turning out to be.

ETA: Fortunately, zylch left behind some of her meds. Not the same dosage as mine, but still better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Not that I have time to pursue bad ideas, anyway. Tonight, opaljax and I are working on brakes. The rest of the week is written off for getting information out about Winter Bazaar. Saturday, people from Dallas are coming to talk about our church and how they can make their church work better. Sunday there's more Dallas, and a ritual. Next week, I'm finding tables for the Bazaar, and maybe working on some of my stuff to sell. Wednesday night, we're going to triadruid's family's place for Thanksgiving on Thursday. Friday next looks pretty clear, though. Maybe I could have some bad ideas then.
