I don't think I can do Santa Flaunt after all. We were going to do it on 1/13, but now [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and I have to be in St. Louis that day. The next best day was 1/20, but apparently the Kansas City Mystery School is meeting that night and will need to be fed dinner. That sort of squeezes out the Flaunt, I think. If other people would like to do the Flaunt, they are welcome to do so, but I don't think we can come. :(

It's very cool that we are stepping up our involvement in the greater pagan community and getting to do some teaching in other places, but I can see that this will mean less time for general fun. Why can't we get more weeks in the year, I ask you?

Perhaps we can reschedule the Flaunt for February then? I know I'm going to have a hard time squeezing it in between fixing the house, move, and surgery.

In February, it's hard to justify doing it as Santas. Maybe we could do some other sort of Flaunt in February, though. My February looks sort of clear.

Also, surgery? When are you having surgery?

Sorry, that must be one of the things that was too far back on my journal for you to see. I'm scheduled for a purportedly minor surgery on 1/19 (one week after the move). It'll be fun and exciting.

Reputedly, the KC Flaunting community can survive without us from time to time. Have you posted to flaunt-dev to look for a replacement coordinator for this year, yet? I agree that January got bollixed up in a hurry...

Nope. I guess I should. If anybody even still wants to flaunt with us. Attendance has dwindled significantly. :(

I want to flaunt, it's just the commute's a bit of a bitch.

We could plan a Limey Flaunt for sometime in September. That should give everyone enough time to pencil it in. There could be fish and chips and beer and silly accents, followed perhaps by English movies (Room with a view... of HELL!)

Are you coming back in the Fall?

From: [identity profile] zylch.livejournal.com
That's the current theory. Dissertation/project is due at the end of August, and it's unlikely that I'll be done before then. Technically my visa allows staying/working in the UK until graduation ceremonies (January), but given the travails of others trying to find work here as foreigners, there isn't much reason for me to hang around waiting for my marks. In the States I'll earn better money and have lower expenses even if I end up at WFM for a couple of months. Not that I'm keen for that to happen, but at least it's a pretty secure backup plan for keeping a roof over my head while seeking archaeological work. (Let me know if you have any buddies at Science City...)

If I end up with a fabulous job lined up right out of school that's somewhere other than KC, I'll at least be in town for a few days to aggregate my things from their diaspora and load them up for moving.

Will you be reclaiming your Giant Bunny when you return? :-P

Also, I don't have any buddies over at Science City, but I could see if I could make some.

I will. If you conceive of a Worthy Home (or a Worthy Prank) for it before then, however, I will not cry at its absence when I return. I'll just want pictures of the fun :-)

(I was halfway guessing that it had been burned as the Wicker Bunny anyway...)

I could say that we didn't even think about burning it as the Wicker Bunny, but that would be a Big Fat Lie.

Also, you have my solemn vow that if we decide to airlift it, give it a viking funeral, dress it in garters and sit it on the mayor's lawn, or any other outlandish thing, I will photograph it and send you pictures. This I swear.

BTW, totally off topic. Tim (or Tom) from Fresh Foods (?) says, "Hi." and that he is totally jealous of your exotic escapades to foreign countries.

Can't hurt to ask.

I suspect our Regular Flaunters are mostly as busy as we are, and like some other things in our world, notification has fallen off the map.

Don't despair. Flaunts will happen. By the way, I totally support a more-hours-in-the-day/more-days-in-the-year initiative. Yeesh. and yawn.

At some point, I formalized a plan for adding more days to the week. There was two days added to the work week (Balday and Ingday), and one to the weekend (Lokiday). Then, every time a new moon falls on a Friday, after Lokiday there's a bonus Erisday in your weekend.

This brought the week to a regular decimal number, and makes keeping track of week:day ratio's easier.

That's alright. I can't imagine though, what kind of catalyst would have to arise to get the calendar changed again....

Maybe the combined catalyzing power of Loki and Eris?

Yeah, I was kindof thinking "collapse of civilization as we know it", too.

In other news, we are totally having an Immanentize The Eschaton party next year for New Year's Eve. It'll be a party and a Discordian working, all in one! Want to come?

Do I want to come? Hell yes!

Though with the chaos I can see looming on the horizon, the logistics of actually attending will have to be determined a bit closer to the event.

...But I've put it in my WonderPhone.

I wonder what sort of event could be scheduled for 2012?

Are you moving again? Geez. Anyway, if you're still around, we'll see you there. Of course, we'll probably see you before then too. And I think we're just warming up for 2012. That could be a High Priests of Lemuria party, maybe.

Also, I'd like to point out that it has been almost 20 minutes since I posted about immanentizing the eschaton, and neither of my partners has yet to respond and tell me not to do that in the house. It is totally on.

Magic Five ball says "Answer unclear, have a hot dog and ask again later."

w00t! Besides, when it comes to Eschatonics, it's much easier to get forgiveness from the survivors than it is to get permission.

Your girlfriend was teaching class at the time, and your boyfriend helped come up with the idea. Which, in itself, is probably a sign of the Apocralypse, but hey....

*snort* Out of curiosity, how much caffeine had you ingested before writing up this proposal? And what is the deliberative body in charge of week lengths?

I think I'd had about a pot of coffee at that point.

As far as submission, I don't think we found the right department to send it to. I was going to try the approach of printing it out in triplicate, with blue ink, and stapling it to my forehead.
