Not something stupid. Something that is teh nifty. This does not have to be something that is useful or functional, just interesting and entertaining. When I typed interesting just now, it came out as inertesting, which my mind immediately defined as something inert or inactive that is interesting.
We should totally build something inertesting. Yup.
Want to build a mood enhancing stereo? I been tinking what would happen if you uilt a device that sent out a signal that would encourage a persons brain to move towards certian freqencies of operation, like right between alpha and beta waves where most people seem to feel like mystical experences are occuring.
Easier to alter the tracks. I actually had some software for producing white noise in various frequencies keyed to different brainwave states at one time, and the intention to mix some meditation-y tracks, but I never actually did it (bad me!). Maybe I still have that stuff, I'll have to look.
I'm not counting the two disasterous weeks of band where I mangled a clarinet and made it sound worse than a cat in heat as having played an instrument.
Nah, I think you have to have thought yourself to have some degree of proficiency with or commitment to the instrument. Did you run screaming from the clarinet?
If the builder is only endangering himself with his electrical hijinks, that's fine with me. Applaud his creativity and remind him to wear rubber-soled shoes.
But if at any point he is likely to electrocute his whole neighborhood or set fire to the state of California, he's not allowed to play with those toys anymore.
