OMG WTF WoT
Oct. 11th, 2005 12:48 pmCompleted fanboy ninja mission to Borders. Acquired Knife of Dreams.
Began reading it immediately, despite the fact that I have two other books I'm currently reading, one of which somebody else will be waiting for.
Hah!
There was a brief moment in which I forgot the difference between Damodred, a Cairhienian house which counts among its numbers Moiraine Sedai and Galad of the Children of the Light, and Demandred, a Forsaken (during which I did exclaim "No Fricking Way!" with more loudness than was necessary). I seem to be past that now. The other thing, which lingers, is a newfound respect for said Galad. He seems to do okay, once he gets pointed in the right direction.

Date: 2005-10-11 07:37 pm (UTC)Actually, I do just walk in and out of Borders, because if I'm ever there, it's on a specific errand for something that's just come out, and is therefore likely to be close to the front door.
I do my wandering around (and buy most of my books) at Half-Price Books, where it's much cheaper to give into temptation.

Date: 2005-10-12 03:50 am (UTC)I used to be unable to leave Half-Price Books without spending at least $25, but since that's largely how I built my library I feel like it's no longer as easy to find things there I want but don't have. Though there's also the factor that I sadly no longer live near one.... bringing me back to my expensive Border's frustration.
Re: self-discipline
Date: 2005-10-12 01:38 pm (UTC)I try to limit my trips to HPB, space them out, so that there's a larger chance that there will be new stuff I want. Sometimes that even works. My real peril is Amazon, so I try not to go there if I can avoid it.
Re: self-discipline
Date: 2005-10-12 03:18 pm (UTC)The only way I can escape Amazon with my bank account intact is if I only go there for specific things, as you do in Border's. My wishlist there has 300-some items, though most are CDs.
