I have discovered the location and nature of the thing that has been beeping in my office every few hours for the last week. Each time it would go off, it would make *almost* enough sad beeping noises to let me locate it, but not quite. But now, I have discovered it, a mostly-dead pager waiting to be returned to the Big Pager Company In The Sky for refurbishment. And lo, I did pull it out, and I did remove its batteries, and it shall beep no more. Bwa ha ha.

You know, there's actually a geek toy that does something similar - but uses different harmonics so its nearly impossible to find.

Its the kind of thing I like to keep in mind for future prank pulling.

Yeah, that's what's in lexpendragon's link above. I'm tremendously sensitive to sudden noises, and that would irritate the crap out of me. Fortunately, it is nothing my co-workers would ever think of, which is, so far, the best advantage to working in a geekless office that I can think of.
