I have discovered the location and nature of the thing that has been beeping in my office every few hours for the last week. Each time it would go off, it would make *almost* enough sad beeping noises to let me locate it, but not quite. But now, I have discovered it, a mostly-dead pager waiting to be returned to the Big Pager Company In The Sky for refurbishment. And lo, I did pull it out, and I did remove its batteries, and it shall beep no more. Bwa ha ha.

I don't see why not. You see, we've got American Messaging, which used to be Verizon Wireless, which used to be Tele-something (Telenet? Telecall?), which used to be....

I've wanted to get one of those for my friend Todd, who's the drummer in a band. One of their pet peeves is when a bar will pay them to come in and play music... but won't turn off the @#$% tv behind the band. And since they're fiddling with arcane electrical doodads all night, they could be completely undetected, or play it off like it's just some kind of weird coincidental frequency in the amps... ::whistling innocently::

Yeah, that's what's in lexpendragon's link above. I'm tremendously sensitive to sudden noises, and that would irritate the crap out of me. Fortunately, it is nothing my co-workers would ever think of, which is, so far, the best advantage to working in a geekless office that I can think of.
