What did you think? I've got about 40 pages left.

Thanks!

That would be an excellent example of why I need to write things down immediately, that would.

I enjoyed it. I really liked the world set-up, and the magic/tech balance, and all of that sort of thing. Also, I particularly enjoy the Weaver. It was so very sad, though.

Finished!

Terribly sad! :(

But - the sequel is about pirates! The Scar, it's titled. And, yes. The Weaver was very cool.

Re: Whores in History:

My library has a book about the history of prostitution. I flipped through it a couple of times when I used to work as a page, shelving and organizing the nonfiction. Just curious, what's your position on the aforementioned Oldest Profession? Pro, con, or mixed feelings?

I'm generally pro-whoredom, provided that it's self-selected whoredom. I suppose I'm pro-whore, anti-pimp.

But then, I'm usually in favor of people doing whatever they want to do with their own lives, provided it doesn't infringe upon unwilling participants. If people want to screw other people for money, I don't see where I have a right to stand in their way.

Might I humbly suggest...

I think you may very much enjoy Raise the Red Lantern (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BBOU5O/ref=wl_it_dp/104-4829686-4699957?%5Fencoding=UTF8&colid=1SU4MY150DXJ5&coliid=I2TP45MDPI2AZO&v=glance&n=130). I originally saw it on IFC, and it is quite a good movie. Quite good.

I've seen it. I vaguely remember it as being quite good, but other than the fact that the gentleman in the film had four wives, one of whom was an opera singer, and that the chosen wife of the day got a foot massage, I don't remember much about it.

Ah! I should have figured you'd already seen it.

Maybe you can help me out...I'm trying to remember the name of another film I caught on IFC years ago, that I really want to see again...it was about a gay couple, 1 american, 1 asian, and the asian guy's parents came to stay, and didn't know he was gay...so they did a convenience marriage with an asian immigrant woman, to satisfy his parents that he was following their traditional ways, and get her a green card/citizenship....

I've been searching for it on amazon for about a month now, and haven't run across it yet...thanks!

Oh -- I've seen that. It's called.... (random access time)... The Wedding Banquet, I think.
