I've discovered something that I think is worth noting. I know the names of all the SCA kingdoms, even though I am not now nor have I ever been a member of the SCA. So why do I know all of the kingdoms, then? Because someone taught me a dirty song about the SCA that had all of the kingdoms' names in it.

I think that's the best way to teach me something, really, is to put it in a rude song. If there were rude songs about the periodic table of elements, or any other list of things in the world, I'd know that stuff, too.

I guess that makes me a bawditory learner, then, doesn't it?

So what's the song? Does it include the new NorthShield (Dakotas area, a year or three ago) or that new kingdom (Missisippi, Alabamba, Louisiana) who's *First* coronation was seriously messed up by Katrina? (I'm sure their bards will have a heyday with that!)

No, it's not that recent. I think I learned it in high school, but that seems ridiculous. It's from An Tir, and is primarily about how hot the girls are in An Tir, but along the way gives one-liner descriptions of the sexual tendencies of people in other kingdoms, like "In Adenvelt (sp?) they'll go down on a Celt" or "The girls of the Middle will cuddle a little" or "in Calontir, they screw once a year", and so on and so forth.

Apparently there is a song about the elements, or more accurately a song that consists mainly of the names of the elements set to something that vaguely resembles a tune. It's sung by Tom Lehrer and fairly easy to find online.

There is also the beginnings of an opera about the periodic table. I recommend you listen to it, in a train wreck sort of way.

But obscene songs, I could not find. I think there's a definite market out there, though.

It's to the tune of "I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major-General", actually. *sings* There's antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium, and hydrogen and oxygen and nitrogen and rhenium...

Like I said, something that only vaguely resembles a tune...

I (vaguely) remember that song! It's on that tape I had of bawdy songs, which also included "the duct tape song" and "You're always welcome in our camp." Do you remember what happened to that tape? I haven't an earthly as to it's current whereabouts, which is a damn shame, really.

Also, a buddy of mine from my 911 days made me a mix CD which includes the elements song from Mr. Leher. I could email it to you, if you would like. It's not exactly bawdy, but it is catchy, in a geeky sort of way. ;)

I now have the 'Do virgins taste better than those who are not?' song stuck in my head.
