Oct. 10th, 2005 09:24 amOne more fun-filled weekend, check. On Friday night,
kittenpants and I took
saffronhare and
agrnmn to see Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which was much, much funnier than a kids' film has any right to be. The bit with the priest and his cabinet of pagan paraphernalia was particularly funny, as was a later scene in which Gromit fights a smaller toothy hound atop a coin-operated airplane.
saffronhare was filled with the spirit of ten thousand howling, chest-beating bunny rabbits, and most pleased.
agrnmn felt that perhaps, as mentioned in a previous post of mine, he did not hit on
kittenpants as much as he might, on account of her being married and all, and proceeded to try and make up for the deficiency. Good times were had by all, possibly even
triadruid, who stayed at TCP to mind the Princesses.
Dropped by KCRF on Saturday, along with Half The Weird World... we saw
sxypaganmom and her crew,
niveus_tigris and his crew (except for
chaosdruid, who we apparently continually missed),
fionnabhar and her crew, and
adammaker (who escaped from studies for the day), as well as all the usual suspects who seem to get paid to be at faire. I bought a lovely new red leather bodice, which I am told is quite attractive, and a red and grey overskirt sort of an affair, which brings me up to a full pirate chick outfit, more or less. I am pleased to say that I can now garb as a pirate of either gender, which is nice. Faire seems much less alive this season, despite the fact that the lanes were choked with patrons. It's still a good shopping experience, but not so much a playing experience. Ah well. Things ebb and flow, I suppose. We did still have a good time. And, as previously mentioned, new garb (woo!).

Date: 2005-10-10 03:54 pm (UTC)I had already mentioned the seeming change of feeling as it was decribed by people at work. It went from being a Rennaisance Village to a Renaissance shopping venue. I think this is due to the change in vision, it isn't being managed by artsy left-wing performance lovers, it is being run like a business, and 'ambiance' does not have a visible profit margin.
I'm glad it is still fun though... I still enjoy trolling through the lanes and checking out the "advancements in history" as I call them, but since I don't have money to blow, I haven't wanted to go out. Maybe next year. 8-)
