One more fun-filled weekend, check. On Friday night, [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and I took [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare and [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn to see Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which was much, much funnier than a kids' film has any right to be. The bit with the priest and his cabinet of pagan paraphernalia was particularly funny, as was a later scene in which Gromit fights a smaller toothy hound atop a coin-operated airplane. [livejournal.com profile] saffronhare was filled with the spirit of ten thousand howling, chest-beating bunny rabbits, and most pleased. [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn felt that perhaps, as mentioned in a previous post of mine, he did not hit on [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants as much as he might, on account of her being married and all, and proceeded to try and make up for the deficiency. Good times were had by all, possibly even [livejournal.com profile] triadruid, who stayed at TCP to mind the Princesses.

Dropped by KCRF on Saturday, along with Half The Weird World... we saw [livejournal.com profile] sxypaganmom and her crew, [livejournal.com profile] niveus_tigris and his crew (except for [livejournal.com profile] chaosdruid, who we apparently continually missed), [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar and her crew, and [livejournal.com profile] adammaker (who escaped from studies for the day), as well as all the usual suspects who seem to get paid to be at faire. I bought a lovely new red leather bodice, which I am told is quite attractive, and a red and grey overskirt sort of an affair, which brings me up to a full pirate chick outfit, more or less. I am pleased to say that I can now garb as a pirate of either gender, which is nice. Faire seems much less alive this season, despite the fact that the lanes were choked with patrons. It's still a good shopping experience, but not so much a playing experience. Ah well. Things ebb and flow, I suppose. We did still have a good time. And, as previously mentioned, new garb (woo!).

We knew you were there... we didn't get there until like 2:00, so when we didn't see you, we thought you might have gone home already.

I didn't see any of you. Whoa, where was I??? 2:00 Saturday is when they flipped and I was just getting to work... Did they send you to the back gate?

Nope, we went in front gate. When we came in, there was only one line coming in the gate, which was hugemongous. We were saved by Blonde John, who let us in the out door. He was the only person on gate that we knew, which was kinda bizarre.

You know, I was initially stoked about performing this year, but the deeper into it I got, the more I found myself not wanting to commit to that again. I suppose it is different if you are "in the loop" so to speak, and have a good working relationship with folks, but coming back in as a 'newbie' it felt like I was the junior guy on a McDonald's crew and I was only trusted to wipe the tables. Granted, last time I came in under an SCA guy who knew me, and Jim liked SCA folks because they were pre-trained, pre-equipped, and serious about being period for the most part.

I had already mentioned the seeming change of feeling as it was decribed by people at work. It went from being a Rennaisance Village to a Renaissance shopping venue. I think this is due to the change in vision, it isn't being managed by artsy left-wing performance lovers, it is being run like a business, and 'ambiance' does not have a visible profit margin.

I'm glad it is still fun though... I still enjoy trolling through the lanes and checking out the "advancements in history" as I call them, but since I don't have money to blow, I haven't wanted to go out. Maybe next year. 8-)

'Twas a splendid show -- thank you so much for whisking us away to see it. Thank you also for sitting with my husband, so he wouldn't pout for lack of snuggling at a Friday night show. I was so bedazzled by the display of bunniness (even in the closing credits!) that I bet I missed a great many jokes and puns.

Will have to purchase the DVD to study appropriately.

I love the pancake bunny. Keyword = Gobsmacked. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] triadruid for cleverness of the creation.

Out of curiousity...

Did you get to see the Brobdingnagian Bards (http://thebards.net)? I know they're at the KC Faire right now. I enjoy them muchly, but haven't had a chance to see them live.

We did not see them this time, but have in the past. [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants is something of a Bards enthusiast, I believe.
