It has recently come to my attention that I haven't any idea of what I look like. I have a vague idea that I have a blocky, mostly undifferentiated body, with the exception of a pair of incongruously comic-book breasts. I am informed that this is not, in fact, true.

I've been dressing to reflect what I perceive as a lack of physical interestingness, occasionally choosing to accent the tits I see as my only noteworthy feature, but generally trying not to call attention to myself in any way.

So I have a question for people who do know what I look like. If you had my body, what would you wear? What should I be wearing that I'm not? What am I wearing that I absolutely shouldn't?

Any honest input is appreciated.

Well, if I had your body...I would wear something to show off those kick ass legs!! Skirts, flirty skirts with great little tee's!

Honey Dipped one 8-)
Dear you are so so much more Infact yes you have a great set of tits You have that soul that is your core and so so beautiful and caring The bonus for us who love you is that it comes in a traffic stopping body
I know you discount it. You have heard it before. The truth is lady boy or girl I would still love you and want to be close to you.
How you dress. I have seen you in every thing from tart to basic jeans and T-shirt. Your clothes fit you well be it for work all the way to pirate garb.I personally I think you would look great in fall and winter in the long skirt turtleneck or sweater and boots I think a classic look for you For summer anything from Khaki shorts or pants to sun dress and sandals
The long and short (kinda unintended)8-) of it is That dear you do look good and have a nice body all of it You just have to accept it Hear what your friends are saying We love you and like who you are and the way you look through and through.
Your fan always=me

I have a major clothing conflict on the lower half of my body - I like my legs, I think they're really the best-looking bit I've got, but I'm also profoundly uncomfortable in anything but long pants. I actually don't own any flirty skirts -- all the skirts I own are either Faire-style (for Faire), or long pencil skirts for the office. I'll have to pick up some shorter bits.

you look fine to me but then I only see you at spiral, where we all look so lovely and covered in red clay.

i wouldn't cinch my waist or wear belts probably. and i would wear short skirts. not shorter than decent panties used to be, just, you know, not not-short.

Slightly shorter with a little kick may be a way to start...pencil skirts (long ar short) are divinely sexy btw...I must come see you at work on one of the pencil skirt days so I can get an eyeful of that - yum!!

Oh hell. Everybody looks good in red clay :)

Thanks for the input -- short skirts seem to be the order of the day...

So, I have been thinking about this, fairly ineffectually, probably because that has me thinking about your body...........right what was I..oh yes...the biggest problem I have with clothing is choosing general purpose clothing. Too many years in the theater and I tend to think in terms of costuming. I am thus much better at choosing for a specific look as opposed to what looks good everyday.

I do agree with the above tend towards skirts, being a fan of legs and asses, in addition to tits, and faces, and brains...and uh yeah.

General purpose clothing

From: [identity profile] featherynscale.livejournal.com
Actually, I'm given to the same sort of thinking about clothing -- I have some truly stellar special-purpose stuff, but my everyday is more chosen to keep me warm and keep the spiders off my ass than to look good.

Which I think is part of the problem -- I tend to throw on a pair of jeans, which look like nothing, and a t-shirt, which also looks like nothing, and go.

Jeans and a t-shirt isn't a real wardrobe!?! damn fashionistas now what do I do? Maybe flannel counts for something.

Apparently it gives the impression that you don't want people to look at you. Which is generally true for me, but I'm trying to improve on that score.

To clarify, is red clay an accessory or the actual clothing attire?

I'm afraid that I am not one to discuss what a woman should wear, because I have a poor understanding of women's clothing, as well as what looks good on them.

But in general, you should accent eyes and lips, both very nice. Breasts go without saying, obviously. And I think you have great legs.

Honestly, pretty much anything that accentuates you will look good on you.

This is tough

On the one hand, I have (had) the general impression that you move in such a way that *happens to* accentuate your curves a good portion of the time (your alarming flexibility, the Edward Scissorhands-movements, etc). Now I'm wrapping my brain around the idea that that is not in fact your intention, which makes it hard for me to make suggestions on something I'm really partial to. So I'll stick with non-kinesthetics for now...

Legs: If that's one of the features you do have confidence in, do what you can to accentuate that. I do like you in sarongs and skirts, but if you're not comfortable in them, that doesn't help matters. I recommend starting with small steps, accenting the things you already do rather than changing whole cloth. Start with more pants that flatter your legs and ass rather than hide them? Your newer jeans look much better on you than the raggedy ones, I think... they don't squeeze you out of shape, and you seem to walk easier in them. Are the faded ones too tight?

I am told by my wife and your girlfriend, both, that I walk more like a woman than you do, despite lacking (probably) the usual pelvic structure. I encourage you to stare at my hips and ass more, if that helps, though I don't do it consciously so I'm not sure I can 'teach' it. Further observation of you, as well, is required. :)

Shirts, I think you're pretty good at, because you're aware of the Power of the Tits™. Not a lot to improve on here in my worldview, though I will reinforce the turtleneck/sweater as a Good Choice when weather permits. Button-down shirts, obviously, are not so suited to your body...

I'm not sure what [livejournal.com profile] rio_luna is getting at with the "don't cinch your waist", but with a short waist such as you have, it might be a good idea. I tend to prefer you in shirts that just cover your midriff/waistband but aren't tucked in, but that's probably cause I like to pet you up under your shirt. YMMV.

You are blessed to have nice legs w/o having to wear heels, which I'm sure pleases you to no end. There's probably something about walking that entails letting your arms swing freely, but that's an exercise for doing in person...

Your hair looks better off your face, especially because of the length. I was terribly partial to the long-in-front, short-in-back look you had six months ago or so...the red curls on your pale cheekbones is striking.

Usually an accessory, although on at least one occasion, it's been an accessory to body paint.

Any series of recommendations that includes spending more time looking at your ass has got to be good.

I didn't realize the new jeans were better than the old jeans, since they're so much baggier. And I have no inclination at all towards belts, so am probably safe on that count.

I had been wondering about the short-hair experiment, as well. I like it, but then, as previously mentioned, I'm not the best judge.

I had to answer this. Ok, first you're turning into a girl ::ducks:: Second, I agree with pretty much everyone else in that once one can get past The Power of the Tits, you do have terrific legs. I also suggest a sort of flirty skirt (wondering if I have one that might fit you). You also have a beautiful face, and if you would like to do that "girl" thing, you might accentuate your eyes and fabulous cheekbones. And as far as turning into a girl goes, it's not really so bad. :D

It's not that I'm turning into a girl so much as that I'd like to have the option to come off as a girl if I so desire. Diversification of offensive-line strategies.

Also, I have cheekbones?

I wouldn't class the new jeans as 'baggy' in my current worldview, though I probably would have in HS when I wore mine *much* tighter...like I said, I'll look again. I know your taupe slacks look very good (but I'm not sure that you find them comfortable), as well, if that helps.

Yes, you have cheekbones. I love them. And as far as being a girl goes, I don't really think anyone could guess any differently, but that's a different story. I was really just teasing, and managed to omit the part where if you needed help being a "girl", I'm sure my lovely daughter could help you out. ::ducking again:: :D

Being a pants kind of girl myself, I can't really chime in on the whole skirt thing, other than to say that you looked quite stunning in that pink leather outfit you wore at SPiRaL once, but that's hardly appropriate for day-to-day, much less your office...or is it? *stratches head* Also, the red dress you wore last year? Equally stunning.

What I would suggest is a shopping expidition...not to actually buy anything, but to try on different things and then see how they look in a full-length mirror. Try to find a store that has mirrors by the windows, and go during the day, so you'll get an idea of how the clothes look on you in natural light, too. Take a notepad with you, and an impartial observer or two, to note what you and they like and do not like.

There's also a Torrid relatively close to you....in Independence, MO. (www.torrid.com then click on "find a store"). An ex-friend of mine shopped there whenever she could, and found some amazing things.

And you do have lovely legs, dear.

well you could always take your best shopping friend out with you and let her play dress up. you would have never even tried on that red dress if it wasn't for me and you did/do look awesome in it. if you want/need someone to dress you for work, i'm your gal.

Come off it...

Come off it, by now I should seriously hope you know how beautiful you look. There certainly seems to be no shortage of folks telling you. I suspect that what you're really after is an excuse to shop ;) Next you have to appeal to the folken at large to fund said shopping trip. Good luck!

P.S.- I couldn't agree more about how nice all your bits come together ;)

Ya know, I've been thinking about this one for a bit now. I've really decided that I shouldn't give you advice, since I can't really manage to dress myself in anything more than jeans and a t-shirt.
Sorry I can't be more help. Fashion is not my thing.
