Tarot Playlist - Major Arcana
Apr. 18th, 2007 11:30 amStil working on this... Did you forget? I didn't. :) I feel pretty good about most of these -- granted, my High Priestess song is about a dude, but hey. I'm inclined to be like that.

Tarot Playlist Part Two: Cups
Feb. 23rd, 2007 01:12 pmOK, I'm not known for finishing what I start, but I try to get at least halfway through before becoming distracted with something else shiny.
There are actually a couple of songs on this part of the list that I don't care for. See if you can spot them: the rule is, "I am sick of the Eagles." And yet, couldn't come up with anything that captured my sense of it any better. Oh well.

Tarot Playlist: Swords
Feb. 15th, 2007 11:17 amOf course, the suit of Swords is the first one I have finished. Raise your hand if you're surprised. There aren't any court cards in this list, as it sort of makes sense to me to post them all together. They'll happen later. Once I sort out Cups and Pentacles.
Also, I'm not totally set on the three or the five, here. I mean, one would think that, as goth as my musical tastes run, I could come up with a better song for heart-ripping betrayal, and for telling other people to fuck off so you can think about yourself. And yet! There it is.

Unexpected side effect!
Feb. 14th, 2007 10:24 amI've been working on my tarot playlist, and I'm about half done with it. Sadly, the half that is done is not a user-friendly chunk, like "all the pentacles" or "all the court cards". Maybe soon I'll get to something postable.
However! Unexpected side effect: I can now call up the images and an interpretation of the card based only on the name (and the song I chose, if applicable). I have tried to learn to do this before, without success. Another piece of evidence to suggest that the best way for me to learn something is to give it a tune (or even a lot of thought about giving it a tune). Nice!

Tarot Playlist
Feb. 12th, 2007 01:59 pmToday, my how-to of the day (courtesy of Google) is How to use your iPod as a tarot deck. I haven't got an iPod, of course, but the concept is entertaining enough to me that I want to play with it.
The core of the exercise is this: Assign a song to each card in a 78-card tarot deck (the original poster is using a Rider-Waite style, but one imagines that the Thoth and its descendents would work just as well). The original poster's playlist is here.
I'll probably drop my complete list in a post in a few days. For now, there are some possibilities floating about in my brain. If you were to compile such a list, what might be on it?
EDIT: Also, [attention whore] Love me! [/whore]
