In reaction to Rabbit Hole Day, [livejournal.com profile] ceruleanst says, "Fuckabunchathat. Go *DO* something surreal, instead of just making it up." As a card-carrying Erisian, I support that. Of course, I support the making it up, too.

So anyway. This weekend, I went to Iowa with [livejournal.com profile] zylch, to talk about fund-raising and church stewardship in the UUA. I think that fulfills [livejournal.com profile] ceruleanst's requirements. *boggle* On the one hand, we told them all about the God Auction as a fund-raiser, and fully half of them thought it was a good idea (although they were initially suspicious of the mention of gods). On the other, the painfully earnest quotient was high, and we were, of course, the youngest people in the room by at least 15 years. Mildly trippy on both counts.

But I'm back now. Did you miss me?

Four from [livejournal.com profile] capriciouslass:
1. Besides Eris, Lugh, and Oshun (sp?); what, if any, other patrons do you have? Read more... )
2. I have problems keeping up with the 2 patrons I have, how do you manage with at least 3 rather disparate ones?Read more... )
3. What would be your ideal job?Read more... )
4. I believe that whiskey and rum are not allowed on your diet. What sorts of alcohol, if any, are you able to drink on the new diet?Read more... )

EDIT: Holy crap. I did it again! [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants better come home soon... things are getting weird around here.

The problem with backless sandals is that you have two options: either you can walk with your foot scrunched up to hold the shoe on, or you can let the shoe flap with every step and smack you in the bottom of the foot.

The former apparently causes the muscles in my thighs to become so knotted that it causes me pain when someone rubs my thighs, which is bad.

The latter is... well. I suppose that it would be simply annoying for most people, as it is awfully loud. But for me, it's a slightly more complex experience, which is, in its own way, just as untenable.

Also, today I entered the 23,000th invoice on our company's current payables system. It was for a bill issued on 5/23/05, and the invoice number was 23005. Do you believe that?

Feeling extraordinarily well today, despite (or because of) complete inability to sleep for more than an hour at a time last night. I feel that I owe these periods of insomnia to Eris, in some way, if only because whenever they happen, I manage to wake up at 5:23 a.m. Every time. I also wake up (obviously) at other times during the night, but always, always 5:23.

In other news, there was a story this morning on NPR about the self-publishing industry, which would have been of great interest, if it had said anything other than "A lot of people are self-publishing these days, and people in the traditional publishing industry sneer at that", which I already knew. Still, there were some prominent self-publishing names and websites being thrown about that might be worth the attention of Nine Fires. Or would be if Nine Fires were thinking of going the self-publishing route as part of the plan. I no longer know what the plan is, which is probably my own fault.

I've always wanted a parade- I used to plot how to infiltrate the Easter Parade in the town I grew up in. The logistics of building and sneaking in a float in the form of a giant light-up bunny being ridden western-style by a friend dressed as Jesus with a cowboy hat eluded me though. So I've been trying to convince people to parade for other things for years.

Then, a few days ago, someone mentioned that the Kansas City St. Patrick's Day Parade began with a couple of guys, a broken-down car, and a three-legged dog thoughtfully dyed green for the occasion. I can't help thinking I could do better than that somehow.

So I pitched the idea - "Let's parade for something!" And people went for it. We weeded through possible paradeworthy holidays already in existence, but found nothing we felt strongly enough about to march for. So it became necessary to invent our own holiday.

We therefore declare May 4 to be World Hedonism Day. On May 4, I, and any other folk I can talk into joining on, will march for hedonism. Costumes will be recommended, as will brightly colored ribbons, signs with slogans (Think: "Hedonism in our time!" "Up Hedonism" "What do we want? Fun! When do we want it? All the damn time!"), bubbles, chocolate, feathers, glitter, and what-have-you.

I'm looking forward to it.
