Santa Claus came round today and left me a bottle of Chardonnay... in a nifty black satin bag embroidered with phoenixes.
As enamored as I am with wrapping material of all sorts, I'm particularly fond of wine bags. They're often lovely and I want to use them for other things, but sadly, I don't have a whole lot of things that are long and cylindrical that need storage. I think this one is about the right size to keep my incense in though. Yay!

Hold on to them until you are 70 and then they can be made into really sexy bra cups for the aged. If I start on the project now, I can have them done for you by 72. ;-)

Actually, Mik and I have noticed that the more immediate need is anything carbonated. I don't know why. I can go a few days without Pepsi... but carbonated beverages are a bit part of meals for me. I'll have to look around for studies on the addictive nature of fluids saturated with CO2.

Just an idea...run by Pricillas - I bet you could find a few long cylindrical things for your elegant storage. : )

I don't know about the prices since I haven't been into either store, but word on campus is that the Priscilla's in Lawrence has a much better selection than the one on Metcalf.

The one in Blue Springs is pretty good though - not that I'll be trekking out that way any time in the near future.

but in Lawrence you get to go shopping with me and hear me say things like "$75? That's absurd! I could build that for less than half that price!"

Why limit yourself to dildos? The $75 comment was about a 'love swing' we saw at TG's in Lynchburg, after all. And if the theatre shop had had a decent welder... um, maybe I should shut up now.

A good solid love swing would still be close to $75 the way I had it drawn up. But then I also wanted a block and tackle assembly for it to hang from so I could adjust the laden height easily.

$75 is an amazing price though... that's an Ebay price! Way too much for a hunk of fake f*ck-flesh though.

We'll have to compare drawings sometime. The one I saw in VA seemed to be a pretty bare-bones version; it looked something like a coat-hanger on steroids (with a spring instead of a hook), with assorted straps and the like hung from the corners. I never priced the spring, and of course cost could vary a lot with the type of strap material and cushioning, but it looked to me like $75 was way overpriced. For a high-quality luxury model, things would be quite different.

The problem we had was in trying to figure how one would hang it securely from the ceiling in our dorm. My solution would have been to build a sort of A-frame or tripod to hang it from, because then you wouldn't have to worry about the structural integrity of the ceiling (not to mention trying to explain it to the Buildings and Grounds folks). But then you have to make sure that the supports don't get in the way. It's a thorny problem.

I like your block-and-tackle idea, but I'm not sure how well it would integrate with a spring. Maybe if one left off the spring and used a rope with a medium elasticity? I'm thinking something like the stuff climbers use, that has some give so you aren't jerked up short if you fall. Thoughts?

The block & tackle could be mounted above the spring.

The one I have been following ($170 at retail shops, $100 on Ebay) has back, butt, and leg support, but I always felt it needed something to rest the head in too. It seems that the one I like was rather modular too, allowed for a lot of different options.

There is an a-frame available on ebay... like a 70's swingset design. The problem being durability. The reason mine was priced higher was because I like to use solid materials in such things. And safety plays a big role in design too... for we are not always entirely about our wits when in the throes of passion... and to have an eye bolt or dowel rod give in the height of passion could quite possibly cause grievous injury.

My concern with the spring is how the bouncing would affect the rope and sheave. If one went low enough on the way down, the lack of weight on the bounce back up could cause the rope to lose tension and slip out of the groove on the sheave. Since an elastic rope would naturally adjust its tension, I think it might be the safer option.

The big problem with the frame idea is keeping it to a reasonable size while also keeping the supports out of the way of amorous activities. There are a few things less sexy than a concussion, but not many. I'd prefer having a house with exposed rafters, myself. It gives you something very solid to hook into, and you can keep an eye on the connection for signs of fatigue.

Hmmm... you wanting a new job? We could go into business together :-)

All hail...

We'll have to take A, then -- I actually never got mine, and I'm not taking classes, so no discount for me.

Unless it's any college ID? I kept one of mine that has no expiration date, just in case I ever needed it.

I know of a person in Blue Springs who would love to go shopping with you, even at Priscilla's. Don't know who that could possibly be.

Any Priscillas is better than the one on Metcalf

I also agree that Priscillas on Metcalf sucks. I just recently had an experience there, briefly written about in my journal <a href="http://www.livejournal.com/users/chainwoman/61161.html>Priscillas on Metcalf</a>
