Longest Night Ball - Bit of a Change of Plans

If you're on FB or the Gaia mailing list, you'll see this again, but I figured I'd post it here as I know some of you are planning to attend the Longest Night Ball and might not otherwise catch the news:

With the event only two weeks away, we learned today that a dispute between the City of Kansas City and the El Torreon Ballroom will mean that we are not able to hold Longest Night Ball at El Torreon as scheduled.

However, that doesn't mean the party is off. We have initiated Emergency Backup Plan D, and will instead be holding 2009's Longest Night Ball at SMUUCh. This will mean a couple of changes in the event, as follows:

1) Since we will no longer be counting exorbitant space fees among our expenses, ticket prices will be reduced to $15 in advance, $20 at the door. If you have already paid for your tickets, the difference in price will be refunded to you.

2) We are now full up on vendors for the event.

3) Um... as far as we know, that's it for now. It's still going to be a lot of fun, and I hope you'll come out and join us from 9p-1a on Dec 18th!

There may be a few more small changes upcoming, but I am still in process of confirming those. I will post again to let you know as soon as I know!

Linda Boyce is actually now looking into the possibility of having on-site childcare available, since we now have SMUUCH's space to work with.

Not that I want to snatch away a babysitting opportunity for you, but I thought that if child care was a major issue in *you* not going, you could reconsider. :)

Nah, the possibility of having another major panic attack because of being in an enclosed space with too many (grown) people, doing something I've never done before... That's what's keeping me home.
Besides, I'm willing to keep the kiddos overnight. I know how rare it is for parents to get an opportunity to have a full night for themselves! I might not have a ton of space, but I have a ton of toys, games, and a couple of built-in playmates here. :)

I understand; I used to have a similar problem before I got my shielding under control.

My shielding used to be under control. Things started to fall apart within the last year and I can't even calm down enough to work on it. In that aspect, FML!
I am looking forward to having a bunch of boisterous boys in my house. That can be a lot of fun. :)

If you want help, you have but to ask; I'd be more than happy to work with you and try and fix things. I don't know of any other really strong Empaths at Gaia other than you and I, so I might be the best person for the job.

Will probably be asking you for help early next year. Our insurance is changing to something that's more usable so I can actually go and see a therapist AND get my anti-anxiety meds. I think that'll help calm some stuff in my head down enough for me to concentrate more again. Right now, any time I try to do anything it's a mess and I get a massive headache. Fun times!
