I need a new doctor.

I've been trying to get a prescription refilled for four days now. I am out of meds. This is not like my viagra prescription, kids. I do not take medication for the sheer joy of taking medication. I take medication because I am ill. The doctor's office staff does not seem to be able to get his signature on the refill sheet, or does not seem to be able to get the refills sheet to the pharmacy, or something. Four days. No meds. Two messages for the office staff. No meds. Three faxes from the pharmacy. No meds.

You may recall similar outrage on my part when they failed to get any lab reports from my emergency room visit, Not Very Long Ago. But now, now I am done. I will require a new primary care person. Does anybody locally have any recommendations?

Yep. Dr. May. breathofgold will have his contact info. Very good communication skills. Good office staff. And a sense of humor... =) good luck!! if that doesn't work let me know and i will try and track someone down. i have enough former students in the area, they should be able to screen folks for me.

I'm 99% sure Dr. May is who she's seeing *now* He's fine; it's his office staff that can't seem to get anything done.

that's too bad, that certainly didn't used to be the case. i bet if he knew he was losing patients over them, he would make some changes... but maybe he too has changed since i left... boo.

Yeah, sadly, that is my doc. I have written a sad note to the office in general, but have no expectation that it will actually reach him, as the only way I could find to send communication to that office was an e-mail form. :(

I like all three of the doctors I've seen at Overland Park Family Health Care Partners. My primary physician is Dr. Andrea Murray, but I've also seen Dr. Beryl and Dr. Murphy (also female). There is also a male doctor in the practice but I haven't ever seen him. The office is on 121st Street off of old Metcalf.

I use the same practice. Dr. Berl has been the PCP for me and the girls pretty much since we moved here; [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn used to see Dr. Feder there.

Feder is the guy. I've seen him the (two) times I've been to the doctor since I've been in KC, and have never had a problem getting the scrips for my meds.

Oh, and the office staff was very together/with it when I went in to change my name and insurance paperwork; haven't ever had a problem with that sort of thing there.

They're at 127th & Metcalf -- on the Dreaded Kansas Side, but not so far from where you live, K. Office phone number is (913) 894-6500. They're all very good about NOT prescribing antibiotics, and incorporating alternative therapies and the like as well. Good luck!

*Ahem*

If you are out of thyroid meds, this is really really NOT good. As you yourself are aware. My doctor at Swope hooked me up with 2 months of samples (synthroid, 200mcg). I don't know if that's what you're on or the generic levothyroxine or what, but you are welcome to some of mine until you can get your script straightened out. Unfortunately I can't come to you as I am without a vehicle at the moment but you are welcome to stop by anytime. You have my addy, right?

I don't know if you're on the MO or KS side but my primary is Dr. Schmoll at Georgetown Medical which is very close to Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He's great and so is his nurse. Excellent bedside manner and highly respected.
