It's worth mentioning that my appearance on this show today is sponsored by curry. As far as I can tell, a decent curry has nigh-magical healing properties. I don't know why I don't remember this and just have a curry when I *start* to feel ill. It could save all sorts of pain and misery, and even if it didn't, it would at least mean curry more often. This is not to be considered a bad thing.

Useful(?) things I did while I was sick, apart from eating curry:

• Watched all of the first season of the new Doctor Who, and half of the second season. I enjoyed this immensely, though I don't like David Tennant as well as I did Christopher Eccleston. So the first season was crunchy like popcorn, but the second season is more difficult for me to focus on.
  
• Used some of the "cog" components I got at ReStore to make a very steampunk/industrial choker. Three locking washers, a few carved wooden Iron Cross beads, some ruby-red glass rounds, and a good bit of aluminum chain, and it's very nice. I like it so much that I'm going to find it difficult to put it up for sale. Oh well. I could go back to the ReStore and pick up a few more handfuls of the locking washers, and call this piece proof of concept...
  
• Read "Dating the Greek Gods" by Brad Gooch. This is a self-help book for gay men, in which readers are encouraged to tune into aspects of various Olympian deities as if they are going out with the gods. I picked it up in the hopes that it would be inspiring for a ritual I'm working on, which it was, but mostly for its bibliography. The book itself is sort of a fun read, though, and its advice to readers is solid enough (even if its mythology is a little sketchy in bits). Best part: in several places, the author offers a translation of some classical text, then tries to put it in modern gay culture context. In one of these moments, he's referencing the Symposium, and Alcibiades is hitting on Socrates, who the author likens to "a wizened old leather daddy". I lol'd. :)

yes, the steampunk chocker thing is kick ass, and i will be surveying your beadstuffs to eventually seek out a commission of one in black and metal and more stuffs...
also, do you now own that book, or was it a library thing? it sounds just absolutely funfilled, and after reading "getting things done" it might just be something I would enjoy

anywhoo, glad you feel better, I must now experiment with this curry-power stuff, as I finally seem susceptible to the third strand of that hideous virus my mom, the nurse, has brought home.

We don't own the book, but the Kansas City Public Library does. I'll be returning it soon to the Waldo branch.

Also, I have some bigger "cogs" that might be more suited to a heavier design -- what did you have in mind?

well, pretty much anything that would look good with a black dress shirt, or my boots, lol.
on another fashion note,I have begun my pursuit of a kilt, because they rock, and I look really good in one. Im thinkin I will most likely end up making my own denim one, because to make it look how I want(metal spikes, chains, and safety pins) if I altered a utilikilt, someone would kill me for it. (altho I do plan to own some utilikilts as well)

the good is that I, in fact, did NOT catch this horrible whatever.
bad news is that the reason for my current and previous illness is a spiderbite, which is of course located on an existing injury.
