Last night, I was thinking about what I'm going to send people for the CD Swap, and came to the realization that I am going to need to re-acquire a couple of key things that either a)I've only ever owned on tape or b)I've worn the CD out of without having ripped the songs (or, in one Very Speshul case, I did indeed rip the songs, but by the time I got round to doing that, the CD was so effed up that the rip is no good). Alas, a trip to the record store is in order. Oh Noes. *grin*

In other musical news, I must have this.
I'm writing it down so I don't forget it exists. Does that ever happen to you? You think, "Oh good gods, I have to have this record," and then you go to the record shop, or you're on the internet, and you know you wanted *something*, but can't remember what it was? I hate that.

If you've already bought the CD, why not just download it?

(I'm assuming it's an issue at all on moral grounds.)

I've been out of the technological loop on that for a while. I hardly know where to go anymore.
Yes, that *was* painful to admit. Why do you ask?

Want some help? I can point you to the right software, and then tell you the best way to configure it.

You should be able to get every song you're looking for.

Almost every time I'm in a record shop (or reasonable facsimile), I think "Damn, I have 20 pages in my Amazon wishlist, most of it music, plus a few more on my (sadly unpublishable) CDBaby wishlist, and I can't remember any of it right now." If I had good internet access on my cellphone that's what I'd use it for.

In the small cool cheap used-CD stores I solve the problem by looking through *everything*. In the bigger or more expensive or more mainstream stores that doesn't work so well.

Just a little FYI

I am having entirely too much fun with the CD Swap, and I have as of yet to send any out, burn any cds, or even compile complete playlists. But I have my themes picked out (a different theme for each person -- although I do not have the themes situated with any particular persons), and that was probably way too much internal giddyness and attempting to be clever on my part -- but fun.

I often put interesting music into my Wish List on Amazon.com. That way I don't forget it. Or if I do, Amazon is there to remind me.
