Unsolicited personal opinion - feel free to disregard:

I could totally see you in the vamp dress, provided you didn't wear the red beret with it. (In my experience, berets belong in Prince songs and few other places.) I'm not seeing the sailor outfit quite so much, but maybe that's just a side of your personality I haven't yet experienced. I've only met you the one time, after all, and KC is kinda landlocked, so....

I kinda like the red beret, actually. But I'm a big fan of hats in general, so I'm biased in the other direction.

Also, as I was just saying last night, I'm from a Navy town. I have a special fuzzy place in my weird little heart for sailors. (Last night, in this conversation, I followed it up with, "because you know, they're already used to rum, sodomy, and the lash". You can feel free to disregard that comment if it weirds you out. *grin*)

I would perhaps be a bigger fan of hats if I knew more people who could wear them well, or even if I could just find one or two that looked good on *me*. I own one (a Jen Delyth Celtic-accented brimless/porkpie style), and while it's a neat concept, it just doesn't seem to work on me.

I have a deep-seated belief that I look good in hats, but I'm not sure if that's objectively true or not. But you're right, many many people do not look good in hats, or at least, they don't look good in the hats they choose to wear.

I get told frequently (well when I wear them) that hats look great on me. People go on and on, so I am inclined to believe them. Yet, I don't. Wearing hats just weirds me out. I always think it's one more way that I am noticeable.
