Car is back. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid dropped his car off at the shop while we were picking Asmodeus up, for lo, the windshield wipers in the Druidmobile do nothing. Asmodeus does not seem to be overheating anymore, but the oil leak is still there (they kindly marked on the 'courtesy inspection' in the box that says 'fluid leaks' but didn't fix it). I suppose that's okay, since it turned out not to be related to the overheating, but I'm still mildly annoyed about it.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] matchgirl42 and I carved pumpkins last night. She had never carved a pumpkin before, so we basically insisted that she should do so immediately. At some point, I suspect that she will get tired of us flipping out every time she says she's never done something, but it hasn't happened yet.

We've also done a Big Stupid Pumpkin Project again this year, but it sounds so stupid that I hesitate to describe it here. You'll have to wait for the pictures (and I'll have to get batteries for my camera).

EDIT: For no good reason at all, I'm spending a lot of time and energy this morning trying not to filk the song "I Don't Like Mondays" into "I Don't Like Monkeys". I'm throwing it out there because I know that you guys will do it, and then I won't have to. :)

Called about my car already; the fix is under three digits, so I'm doing it. That should carry me through the winter, provided I actually change the damn distributor cap/spark plugs that I have already bought.

Wasn't the motor at all, but a loose rod. Essentially, they're charging me $50 to tighten a bolt. *shrug*

That doesn't suck, actually. It wasn't like you were going to tighten it for free, and $50 is cheap for the service of keeping you from encountering flaming death because you can't see out your windshield.

When do you want to do the cap and plugs?

Need a free night with decent weather for standing outside. Second option would be to pull it into the garage and use the shoplight, which is probably more clever, all things considered.

Are we still meeting for ritual planning on Thursday? That might be ideal, looking at our calendar and who will be home...

No, we met Sunday and are meeting again this Sunday so that we wouldn't have to do the Thursday. I was sort of thinking I would go look at cars on Thursday, but didn't have my heart set on it.

I just changed my plugs and cables about 2 months ago, twas easy... unfortunately, it cost me about 56$ to get someone to tell me that was the problem...

That Big Stupid Pumpkin Project is *badass*. I'm desperately waiting for the full details and pics over here.

I am actually pretty excited about it. We're holding off putting the whole thing together until tomorrow, for fear that some of the pieces might get blown away/taken/eaten by deer. So pics will probably go up on Thursday, unless we're really proactive. :)

But did you use a katana, is the burning question. Lots of people haven't carved pumpkins with katanas.

Nope, not this year. Just large knives.

So far ya'll have been really good about flipping out over me not having done things that are actually fun. The day you start flipping out when I say that I've never done something that would be detrimental to my health, sanity, good humor or continued liberty, is the day that I call a foul on the play. Just so you know.

btw, my oil leak was only 80$ to fix, all it was was a busted pressure valve thing, took them like 30 minutes, and I had waited like 6 moths, letting it get worse, and putting in more oil that the repair cost, out of dread of spending too much on it...
