Back home now. Trying to dig my way out of my office.

Feri camp was kind of a wild ride. I was totally the odd-kid-out at the single-tradition gathering, but I think I ought to be used to that by now. Also, I think I ought to come up with some sort of pithy thing to say when people ask me what kind of pagan I am. My speech lasts way, way too long, and people start to get this glazed-over look.

There's more postin' to come on some of this, but here's the short version of "While I was away:"
- I was in three states I had not set foot in before.
- I met a lot of really cool people, some of whom I have added as lj-friends, some of whom don't have ljs and some of whom have lj names that are still running around in the wilds of my brain and will no doubt emerge later.
- I met some interesting gods... did you know they have a god who is the third thing arising out of a bird energy/snake energy synthesis? I didn't. But I'm in favor of it!
- I went to hell and came back in a little under an hour. Took Jesus three days. New world record! (blasphe-meee! blasphe-you! blashphe-everybody in the room!)

Did you miss me?
Did anything neat happen when I was gone?

You two missed a pretty freakin' awesome ritual... so did a lot of other people, though... that durn Faire. You'd think Pagans like to dress up be pirates/wenches/barbarians/etc, geez. But anyway, It was heavy-trance (I ♥ trance) and difficult. Made me cry, those bastards*. I gave the ritual team a mighty (relative to me) thank you. And there was dancing... normally totally not my thing, but after that trance, I probably could have done all sorts of things that are not my thing.

*To those who don't know, I enjoy using this word in an ironic manner as a term of endearment for people who make me think.

Heh, welcome to Faire Season, otherwise known as What Most UU Churches Encounter Over the Summer.

Attendance is usually highest between Samhain and Beltane, or shortly thereafter (when school lets out, probably).

This year, it seemed like low attendance season started early. Or maybe we just have lower attendance overall lately. Hard to say.

In other news, I was interested to see the schedule for early 08 -- we're like all Welcoming Congregation all the time. Weird. I hope we can make a bunch of those things rituals.

Yeah, I hope our attendance records are good enough to analyze come winter (or whenever things pick up, if they pick up). I ♥ data.

[livejournal.com profile] biscuitgod wanted to get those six "classes" out of the way as soon as possible, and yes, some are going to try to be rituals.

Mmmm....data. Can I be on that project, too?

Speaking of data, and Welcoming Congregations, I have a survey and analysis project for us to do. We're gonna need to get that survey we passed out last week (to the ten people in the room) out to the wider congregation. I think that's gonna mean getting it on the web somehow and tracking data anonymously. And then, we get to analyze the data and make recommendations. I say we because it's my job but I thought you might want to play in it too. If you don't want to, I will accept no for an answer.

Nope, that's totally cool.

I need to get the WB application onto the website first, but that can be a close second.

Speaking of Welcoming Congregations, this is your official written reminder that I volunteered to help out with that committee.

Right! I need to forward you a Relevant Email, then. I'll do that when I get home.
