The streets of downtown Kansas City are full of loa today. I spotted Baron Samedi under an overpass on the way to City Hall, and then, Papa Legba looking for his dog on the side of the road next to the Courthouse. I'm not sure what omen that bears for my Monday, but hey.

Somewhat related, I've finally bothered to upload my pictures from the excursion to Mount Mora Cemetery the other week. You can look at them here, if you're into that sort of thing. Sadly, no shots of the Psychiatric Museum -- it's not set up for photography *at all*.

In other news, we re-arranged the command center at EHQ last night. I hear that we are now partially wireless. I say "I hear" because although I set the network up and made sure that [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants could log in with her laptop, I don't place a lot of trust in my networking abilities. On the other hand, from our house, I can find 3 wireless networks to log into, and ours is the only one that's secured. So that counts for something.

Hmm

I've seen some fey-looking characters and critters around, not that I could pick any loa out of a police lineup, nor any specific types of faeries.

Ah ha!

I wondered when the pictures would show up.

Like I said, it's one of the more interesting cemeteries in St. Joseph with a surprising amount of Egyptian and, as you commented Greek motif's.

Glad these photos came out, and the one you put behind the cut:

Very nice.

Thanks! None of the ones came out well of the one mausoleum that had the saplings growing up through it, though. There's one of the roof where they emerge, but without the context of the rest of the building, it's not as good as I'd hoped. I did get a few that I thought were quite nice, though.

Thanks for taking us up there.

So do you suppose it's coincidence that two loa show up the day after you were talking about whether or not to get tested to see whop your orisha is?

whop indeed

Hey you. No making trouble. :-P
(Seriously: Hell, I don't know. All I know about any of these religions I could fit in one boot. Mostly I know they're wildly interesting, but not particularly good religions for a person of my worldview to pursue, and that they require far more commitment than I'm capable of giving. So, so far, I'm trying to keep to 'interested outsider' status.)

Nice cemetery. Did I see the name Toothake?

I think the full name was Toothaker. But it's funnier in the shot.

I totally misread that...

"Just another magic Monkey". So I'm thinking "Ok, I suppose they run across them all the time with all the Good Monkey Karma they've built up,". Then I read it again.

If you're ref'ing the song lyric isn't it 'manic Monday'? Not that ducks (or Monkeys) simply being ducks (or Monkeys!) isn't also perfectly ok, too.
