Everything in life is temporary, and dynamic. To endeavor to make anything permanent and static is to work against the very laws of the universe. This is futile, and only brings pain. I am not the oak, I'm the willow. Strength is a fine thing, but it means nothing without flexibility.

I'm thinking of giving away a lot of things when I move. There are boxes I haven't opened since my last move, and I think it's obvious that whatever things are in those boxes are things I don't need. In fact, there are a lot of things that I have used since my last move that I don't need.

I called Carey to ask her if this seemed normal. She said "Wait - move things, unpack them, and then see if you no longer want them. If the impulse goes away, then it's all just logistics, and you're just thinking that you don't want to carry any more boxes than you have to. If it doesn't go away, then you can give away all your stuff." I was thinking I'd move it to the new place, and then give it away though, so I'm not sure that's it. Still, it's nice to have somebody you can call for checks and balances on your whims.

I think what it's really about is that I'm moving into someone else's house. It won't be my house, my home, just the place I live in. And if you're going to be homeless, you may as well travel light.

Oh good gods no. I've got several. I'll trade you if you like :) Someone else's unopened boxes are bound to be more interesting than mine.

you know i have boxes that have not been opened since my moved from colorado springs to here and boxes that never got opened from my move from belton to colorado springs. sad but true. the thing is that when i finally do get round to opening them it is like yule. finding photo albums was the best. in one box i found two rolls of film and a disposable camera and when i got the film developed i was excited to see it was photos from my last 4th of july party in belton. that was such a great time. it was exciting to see all those faces and places again. i think carey is right and you should wait and unpack them and see what you think then. oh and you're not homeless you have a home, just not your home but in time there will be a home for you too. hell maybe you can lease mine once we buy our own. it's tiny for 5 people but it is a 3 bedroom house with a huge kitchen and basement and in a great neighborhood and for 750 a month it's not too bad. :)
of course seems like i have to be here for one more year but i am counting down the days.
