Mar. 29th, 2007 10:30 amTicketmaster brings me news that Morrissey is playing a show in Kansas City in May. I am, appropriately, conflicted about this. Do I go, because I never got a chance to see The Smiths? Do I abstain, because, frankly, very little on his last two albums has been worth a damn? (To be fair, I didn't get the last one, so I've heard little of it.) Would anybody even want to go with me? Would I be all alone?
It's all so fucking tragic.
EDIT: I was so excited about Morrissey that I missed the rest of the email, in which it was revealed that Social Distortion was going to play the Beaumont Club, also in May. That sounds like unmitigated fun. Anybody wanna go see Social D with me?

dilemma
Date: 2007-03-29 04:11 pm (UTC)I've also gone to concerts and been disappointed that they didn't play anything from the first half of their career. (REM was the big culprit here, though they made up for it the second time I saw them.)
In this case it seems to be mainly a case of solo vs Smiths. Do you ever like his solo stuff, or is he only worth a damn to you when he's with Johnny Marr?
Re: dilemma
Date: 2007-03-29 04:19 pm (UTC)It's not much of a dilemma, really. I think I would like to go, if I could get anybody to go with me (I know without asking that neither of my partners will). I just saw the announcement, had that reaction, and then was amused that I had.
