I keep having these days in which, at the end of the day, I look back on things that happened at the beginning of the day, and say to myself, "Self, how many days ago did that happen? Oh, shit! That happened today! But it seems so long ago..."

This weekend was full of that. It was also full of druid ritual, local food expo, ritualist re-dedication, really long plays, meetings, home and garden shows, and tasty food. Someday, I plan to have a weekend in which I am not running from one thing to the next all the time, but I don't think I can schedule that in until at least June.

Highlights:
- Finding local nut growers who make sugar-free glazed pecans. This has become weirdly important in the post-sugar age.
- Playing with pit bulls at the Pit Bull Rescue booth at the Home Show. They wanted to know if I would take one home. Must build fence first! (Also, talked to contractors at Home Show about building fence. I should be getting some estimates this week.)
- Curry! Curry contains no sugars or starches other than what's in the milk or cream in the sauce (as long as you don't get vindaloo or anything with raisins), therefore it is okay. Words cannot express how excited I am about that.
- [livejournal.com profile] malvito with a monkey in "Inherit the Wind".

Crazy times:
- Above-mentioned pit bull at Home Show took a playful chew on my arm. Rescue folks looked at me like I was going to produce a lawsuit at any moment. All is well, though. I like dogs, and I understand that the occasional friendly chew is within reasonable boundaries of dog behavior.
- [livejournal.com profile] malvito, after the show, trying to promote his next show to a guy, who stared at him for a moment and said, "Yes, I know. I'm directing you in that show." As we were leaving the theatre, the directing fellow was telling the story to some other folks, and saying, "That poor guy. I must not have made much of an impression on him, or he's really stressed out."
- Coming back from the Food Expo, traffic stopped a moment for a long-haired dachshund trotting down the middle of the street, ears flapping, delighted with its newfound freedom, completely oblivious of cars. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid tried to warn it off the road by honking the horn, but it was similarly unimpressed by this display. Finally, a guy coming up the road in the other direction stopped his car, and chased the thing down and picked it up. This was clearly not his dog, as he then asked some other motorists if they knew where it lived, but he took it with him anyway.

Many animals are afraid of loud noises, so people hope that honking the horn will startle them off into a non-traffic direction.

Unfortunately GEESE ARE FUCKERS and do not care.

Geese are not a party to the covenants between man and beast. I am prepared to expound on this at great length, if provided with a pint. Of course, there are a great many things I am prepared to expound upon at great length if I am provided with a pint.

Well, my experience in watching people do this is that one of two things happen. One the animal does not alter it's course or two the animal freaks out and either hurts itself or others near by because it is trying to escape. I guess this is one of those weird areas that I have patience in and just sit and wait for them to get out of the way.
