Good:
- Friday night out with [livejournal.com profile] teross50, [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn, [livejournal.com profile] nodeal57, [livejournal.com profile] orcjohn, and [livejournal.com profile] triadruid. Dinner at O'Dowd's, cute waitresses, good whiskey. Yay! I am willing to swear by the religious significance of 16-year-old Lagavulin. Also, O'Dowd's has changed its menu since I was there last. This may be the only time in the history of the world that an Irish pub in the U.S. has changed its menu and retained any of the "Irish" items on it. In fact, they now serve boxty at O'Dowd's, and I approve of that.
- Getting ready for the D&D game. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid and I are giggling Way Longer than 15 seconds about this. Any planning session that includes the phrase "crazed halfling Zionists" is, in my book, a worthwhile use of my time.
- Volunteering at Harvesters with Wild Hare on Saturday. We worked a two-hour shift packing donated food for distribution. There was some ritual prep beforehand, and the work was dedicated to Brigid for Imbolc. The omen for the rite, pulled after our shift was Alder, which apparently corresponds to 'guardian of the milk'. We called it good. Also, the work is a lot of fun with a good group, and we are thinking of doing it again some time. Most everyone working there was part of some sort of group; many were girl scouts. We sort of left with the feeling that we ought to earn a merit badge for this. :)

Surprising:
- Inspiration! The Gaia Imbolc ritual had to do with herbal teas for healing (sort of a fire/water thing), and I drank a tea for inspiration. I'd brought my Extra Special Favorite RenFaire mug for drinking out of, and lo, I was indeed inspired immediately. I was inspired to remember to wash my mug out after Faire. (Yuk!)

Not So Much With The Good:
- The furnace at EHQ died on Saturday morning. The lovely furnace guy came out to work on it and declared that since the furnace was 17 years old, it was probably smarter to replace it than to repair it. Since the repair cost would have been half the cost of the replacement, and the average lifespan of a furnace is about 15-18 years, we agreed. So we're broke, and were without heat all weekend.
- It is difficult to buy firewood in Kansas City when it is in the 20s outside and there's a game on.
- [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants is ill, possibly due to the lack of heat. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid was working on ill when I left this morning. :(

Exciting, But Not In That Happy Fun Way:
- This morning, due to some furnace-related (and lack-of-heat-related) activities, I was late leaving for work. This, apparently, allowed me to miss participating in a vast auto accident that happened between the funeral home on Holmes and I-435. The entire road was closed, which was fun. So I wandered around in the desert for a time before finding my way on to the interstate. This made me even later, so I called my boss to alert her. While I was on the phone, the construction truck in front of me lost 1) a plastic bucket, 2) a large plank of wood, and 3) a chain, all of which I got to dodge as they came flying at me.

So, how was your weekend?

I must admit, my curiosity is more than mildly piqued.

Looking forward to seeing how-in-the-heck this shows up in the game.

On another note, my condolences on the death of the furnace, I heard about it on Saturday. I was hoping y'all would make it over for Fluxx & a movie as well as some heat. The three of you were sorely missed, although I'm guessing the night would have been much later had you been there ...

Actually, the halfling Zionists will probably not affect you in this particular main storyline. We're just building a world, and you (or some other group of players) might run into them later. But they're there. There's actually a lot of Cool Stuff™ that's getting built in just in case we need it. (This is one of the reasons that I rarely DM -- I feel like I have to know the life story of everybody that lives on the continent the game takes place on, and I rarely have time to put all that together. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid is talking me down some on this one...)

Also, yeah, we did think about it, but [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants was not feeling all that well, and we were deep into the planning and whatnot. We just camped out by the fireplace :)

Now I want to figure out a way to work crazed halfling Zionists into an adventure.

Writing them in is easy. The hard part is avoiding the temptation to call them the Little People Liberation Front, or something like that. :)

So, how was your weekend?

More boring than yours, though I got to see what happens if you goose the High Priestess during a serious Imbolc ritual when she isn't expecting it.

She hits you with the stick?

Na, just a look that manages to combine surprise, mild outrage, and a bit of disbelief that someone would actually attempt it, and half the assembled circle bursting into laughter.

Oh, see, if you use the Lord of Misrule's wand to lift the back of the High Priestess' robe when she's doing the invocation, she hits you with the stick. I know this. :)

Whereas, if you use it to lift the robe of the fellow covener who is going to take your place as Maiden in the coven, you get the outraged look and an undignified squeak of surprise. If I remember correctly.
