Ahem. I present a rare window into the development of my sense of humor (such as it is): The Humite/Yube clip from Cosgrove-Hall's Count Duckula cartoon.

This was my favorite cartoon when I was a kid, and this is my absolute favorite animated sequence of all time ever. Clicquez!

I loved count duckula... used to watch it with the boys all the time... that and thundercats, he-man, and for some strange reason, wrestling

Or He-Man, GI Joe, Thundarr the Barbarian, Transformers...

Okay. This is officially the cartoon nostalgia thread now.

I will even admit that I love Pee-Wee's Playhouse on Saturday mornings.

I have watched a few episodes on Adult Swim and gone, "Wow. My parents *let* me watch this show..."

Thunder Cats, Transformers and GI Joe. Yep. Watched them too.

And I still love Scooby-Doo. Always have. Always will. I even collect Scooby stuff! :-) Sorry. Didn't mean to geek all over your post...

Naw, it was a post about geeking. It's all good.

I will also admit to logging more hours than reasonable in front of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, at least until they had the episode with the Giant Underwear and I was banned from watching it Ever Again. :)

I do not recall said episode. My parents really didn't watch the TV with me (on Saturday mornings anyway. Simpsons in the evening was a "Hell no!") and I bet if they did, they would have said no.

Mother hated the fact that I watched Capitan Planet. I asked her once about one of the characters (Gaia) and why she seemed so God like. That was my first introduction into anything remotely pagan and her response was, "There are people out there called New Agers. The believe in the power of crystals and such. Stay away from them."

I try to tell her that I am truly following her advice but she doesn't seem to believe me... :-)

Because I love you...

I've created this lovely Nanny-based user icon. It should do well for whenever you're being overly helpful.

I can't help but think that this post is somewhat inspired by my comment to your Monday post. Dare I ask how much time you spent with that song rampaging about in your head since then?

Also, I think you might find this entertaining, as it's got sound clips from the show. Not quite as cool as a YouTube clip, I know, but it's not blocked by this accursed work filter like most of YouTube is.

Meh.

Crap.

Well, damn. There was supposed to be a link in there, but LJ seems to have eaten it. Bastards. Well then, here's the url:

It was, in fact, inspired by that comment. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid said to me last night, "I'm going to bite [livejournal.com profile] wildnsquirrelly in the nose. I've had that hoorah and up she rises song stuck in my head all day. Why did he even say that?" So I was trying to explain why you might say that, and he says, "Yeah, I've heard you do that routine before -- could you look it up on YouTube or something?". And lo, there it is.

"I'm going to bite [livejournal.com profile] wildnsquirrelly in the nose."

Tell him to bring his appetite, as I've got a lot of nose to bite. He may want to reconsider the location though, as other bits of me are now soup flavored, and my nose probably just tastes like nose.

Probably.

And I, of course, loved ALL the British humor and cartoons they used to play in my childhood. That sort of absurdity and wordplay simply taught me from day one that knowing stuff is AWESOME, as well as amusing.

Hell yeah. I loved Duckula, DangerMouse, Bananaman, the whole bunch of them. That's what my sense of humor comes from, that and the Marx Brothers. Which is partially why I am occasionally accused of not having a sense of humor, too, I think.
