Long weekend, long post
Jul. 7th, 2003 10:25 amJust to catch up for the last few days... I haven't been much in the mood for writing lately - in fact I've been right out sulky. I don't care for that as a mood choice, so I think I'm going to stop now.
I didn't do anything at all for the 4th of July this year, which is odd, since all told, I generally enjoy blowing things up or watching other people do so. It just didn't seem right this year though - Sorry I missed the party, America, but you've been kind of paranoid and mean lately, and I hope you start feeling better soon - I'm kinda missing hanging out with you.
I did get a new hair color and cut though. I went with
kcwitch to get her tattoo on Saturday, and felt like I needed an appearance change as well, so I had all my hair cut off.
Serindipitously (if that's even a word), the new cut and color helped me out in Sunday's ritual quite a bit - we did a contest/fundraiser to choose the patron deity for Gaia for the next six weeks or so, choosing among gods from the Egyptian pantheon. I was Bast, the cat goddess. I didn't win, but that's okay - Osiris is a perfectly fine sort of deity and there are no hard feelings. I, characteristically, was more interested in getting people to pet me than to vote for me. And we raised about three times what we normally do in a summer fundraiser and collected a ridiculous amount of food, which will go to Harvesters. So that all worked out well, and nobody got struck by lightning, or swarmed by locusts or anything, even though most of the gods called the other gods hippo-fuckers at several points in the process. A good time was had by all.
I'm not sure I'm quite done being Bast yet - it's a lot of fun, and I may continue. But, as I was told, if all that does is make me move in a more feline way and occasionally swat at things that are shiny and/or dangling, that's probably no harm.
