Spent the weekend trying to break even, I think.

Saturday, it seemed like a lot got done, but on reflection, all we really did was eat, go to the Ritual for Business, go to the library, get haircuts, and buy toys for the Chaos Hound. Oh, and go for a walk. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid tried to talk me into building a bookcase, but I was a project wuss and didn't think I could do it. Further research indicates that I probably could, but by the time I realized that, it was too late to mess with it this week.

Sunday, went to Gaia and talked about virtues. I did really well in the focus on the task at hand department, and made some notes about what my virtues were and how I should be implementing them, and then, in that breaking even kind of way, left my notes at the church, or had them thrown away while I wasn't paying attention. On the plus side, I suppose I can now say that I lost my virtue in church, which is something. After that, we dropped by [livejournal.com profile] breathofgold and [livejournal.com profile] iron_clad's place, so that I could poke about on their computer and try to talk it into running [livejournal.com profile] iron_clad's new Warhammer video game. After hours and hours of tinkering, downloading, attempting to patch, and so on, it still doesn't work. This does not appear to be my fault, it really seems to be, comment-on dit? Crappy.

Then, last night, I had a dream in which some people who were new to Gaia on Sunday invited us to their house, where we discovered that their job was bioengineering housepets. Their house was full of kittens, who, when you tapped the side of their heads, lit up like neon signs. We were appalled -- didn't the kittens overheat? No, in fact, the kittens were fine. So I don't know what that means.

How was your weekend?

I am soooo going to hell.

It just means that you've got ShinyKittens.

Shake 'em like maracas, and you have a light show worthy of any proper raver!

That said, my weekend was costuming, fur, (sleep a little) FAIRE, food, friends, sleep a little more, FAIRE, rain, flirt, more food, beer and fall over. Good times.

If their kid is anything to go by, it might very well be true, and the kid is the one who designed them.

I thought their kid was adorable... was he a pain in the ass?

Heavens, no! He was great. Just very, very precocious and articulate.

I'm sorry ... but WTF? More on light-up kittens, please.

These wee beasties have, like, electronics in their head? To what purpose? Note I'm a few classes short of a bioengineering degree, so this has my curiousity piqued.

I'm not sure exactly how the kittens worked. I got the impression that the light was produced by a bioluminescence process like some deep-ocean fish have, but that it was turned on or off by an electric switch in the brain. Although, there were some kittens who were roaming the house flashing on and off, so perhaps there were some that had to be switched on, and some that could activate the process on their own. They were extremely radiant though, I mean, literally like neon light, in green or blue.

One of my wake-up thoughts from the dream was "Crap. If I could figure out how to make kittens light up, I would never have to work another day in my life." I mean, really, who wouldn't want a light-up kitten?

Get Matteltm to do it as a toy. That way there's no poor kitty suffering during the trial & error phase. They made the Glowworm toys, and even with all the new chips and do-dads available today kids* would still like a light-up kitty to snuggle with at night.

*Ok, probably MORE than just kids, but we're all young at heart, right?

Woohoo! LOL.

And wow. Light-up kittens? You don't say. *Terrible confliction: "Ooooh! That's neat!" vs. "Oh man. That's horrible."*
