Ah, the working weekend. I represented my company at a job fair on Saturday (so that I can sneak an extra day off for the DragonCon trip; it's nice to work for someone who has some concept of exchange value), where we had fabulous response and met a lot of people who wanted jobs and had no idea about how to go about getting them. I've not been in this field very long, and yet, like every day I get to talk to or read resumes from people who have no idea how to get a job. I was thinking of starting a new blog, which will be the "How Not To Get A Job Blog", and contain all the awful things people do in the employment search. So, question, to all of you guys: Would you read or recommend such a blog, or do you think that would be lame?

Following the job fair, [livejournal.com profile] triadruid and I went thrift whoring. I bought three, count them, three pairs of pants that fit beautifully, for the princely sum of $2 each. How did I accomplish this, when so often my shopping trips are utter failures? Simple. I didn't even bother looking at women's pants and went straight on to the men's section. I am a shitty fit for any women's sizes whatsoever at all, but I'm a pretty good 34x32. (Now everyone knows how fat I am, but that's probably okay. Most of you knew anyway.) We balanced out, though, because [livejournal.com profile] triadruid is a pretty solid women's 12, and has a hard time buying men's clothes, so everyone got pants made for someone else's gender, and all was well.

Later, we had lovely Mexican food with [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants at a new little place called Dos de Oros just down the road. We got to watch some Spanish-language talk show, which was completely incomprehensible (it didn't help that we got only the picture and no sound). First, a woman in white sat in a chair and cried and waved around a red veil. Then, she was joined by two men who were either pimps or the gay men's Santeria club. One was all in white, and the other all in blue, but wearing spangly blue trousers. She tried to give the veil to the guy in white, but he dropped it on the ground. This was wildly offensive, and she cried some more. At some point, a woman all in black came on, who appeared to be the mother of the guy in the blue spangles, or at least hit him on the head with astounding frequency. We had started to get the whole mess figured out, but then they introduced a drag queen in flamingo pink, and all our theories went to hell. Who knows? If she had been in yellow, our story of conflicting initiations and divine rivalries still would have worked, but the pink seemed Right Out. I guess we'll never know.

On to [livejournal.com profile] capriciouslass' house, where we sat around and watched MythBusters for a while, which is easily the Best Thing I Have Ever Seen on Television. I'm developing some sort of weird geek crush on like, everyone on the show. Then, [livejournal.com profile] niveus_tigris arrived from the airport, and birthday festivities ensued. Somewhere in there, we watched Entrapment, mostly for the purpose of ogling Catherine Zeta-Jones' ass, which was worthwhile, even though the movie wasn't. After much drinking and snarking, we got back home about 3 a.m., which was just in time to sleep and get up for Gaia.

Sunday was the EiR graduation ritual, which was "A Farewell to Lugh", who is our outgoing community patron at Gaia. Personal patron crap ensued for me, one result of which was that I now have the full complement of voices in my head back again, and another result of which was that I have to learn how to gild things. Don't ask. Just don't.

We got out of there in time to get over to the Tivoli and watch A Scanner Darkly, which was much better than it had any right to be, and follow it up with a pilgramage to McCoy's. All is well with the world!
