I'm stealing this idea from [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants, in a way. It's something we do a lot, this trade-off of ideas that we then warp into something completely different according to our own predilections.

So, here's the thing. I'd like to do a series of short written pieces, mostly for the practice, but also so that I have something to do that will allow me to further put off the things I tell myself I am supposed to be writing. So, if you like, comment here and give me a topic, and I will write something about it, be it story, article, essay, etc. If you want, you can also suggest a genre or style to go with it, and I will make my best approximation of that style (warning: my poetry is quite, quite bad, so, while you are free to ask for poetry, I take no responsibility for any desire you may feel to spork out your eyes upon reading the finished product).

In addition, in a vein completely unrelated to any of the above, I believe that if I were offered that one of my wishes be granted in this exact moment, I might squander the wish on a crab and sweet potato croquette, topped with the sort of plum and chili sauce that you get at Vien Huong. I must lack for orangeness in some way.

Take what you know of RAW ( http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Robert_Anton_Wilson ), and rewrite it so that the general [USA] populace would want to read more, not run screaming.

Go.

I do believe that would completely invalidate the entire concept of Bob Wilson, and remove any vehement love we may actually hold for his work.

Elitism in literature for the win, bitches. PLUR n shit.

Hang on boys, I'm gonna go get some popcorn. This could get good!

Hrm. That said [livejournal.com profile] infintysquared when I typed it. LJ is all stupid with the tags in this thread for some reason. Carry on, then.

Heh. Honestly, you should know better than to take seriously any sweeping generalizations that escape my fingertypings. I was jus' yanking a chain that needed to be yanked.

I mean, come on, you've seen at least some portion of my collection of Inappropriate Cover Songs. Why would I not love the same concept applied to essays?

Although if it's throwdown the lady wants, it's throwdown the lady gets... BREAK OUT THE KIDDIE POOLS AND THE OIL!

Wait, why would I encourage procrastination? Fun game, just want to make sure I understand your intent here before I start to play.

If it makes you feel any better, the stuff I should be doing is for EiR and the eventual development of EiR into commercial book format. The deadline is far from immediate, and this might also be a warm-up.

"Of all the inns in Middle Earth, she had to walk into the Prancing Pony. There I was, minding my own business, mainly the business of keeping the pipeweed trade out of Hobbiton thriving. I tried to ignore her, but it was no good. Blonde and beautiful, in that skinny, pointy-eared kind of way, and bearing the mark of the Necromancer like a beacon. Trouble of the worst kind, and incidentally my favorite kind. And she was looking for me...."

I'm totally on board with that. Keep an eye out, this one's gonna be a new post.

Pfft. That's not testing her limits.

Write a sweet romance from the point of view of a conservative Christian woman, who falls in love with and marries a professional golfer. The happy ending is when she gives birth to twins.

That would be testing her limits.

I'm not sure that tests my limits either. I'm pretty sure it tests my gag reflex, though. Is that your challenge/request, or are you just hypothesizing about what a difficult request would be?

Why not put King's Roland Deschain in the Australian outback on his way to a place called Alice Springs (a la Priscilla, Queen of the Desert).

That might make a nice, if completely weird, fanfic. With Love- [livejournal.com profile] wildnsquirrelly D.W.

Is it necessary that the gunslinger should wear the frock and heels? Or can I make Eddie do that?

I think the entire Ka-tet should wind up a Ayers rock for a show. Interestingly enough, I recall it being someone's goal to climb King's Canyon as a Queen, in a full length Gautier, sequins, heels, and tiara.

Go to www.fuzzysquid.com/LJ.php (it's a site that shows you the last 40 images posted to LJ). Count down to the 23rd picture and write a piece about that!

Or...

Take all those cool mutants your crew came up with earlier this week and give me a synopsis of their first adventure together with the X-Whatever it is they are now.

Or...

You could just delete this and go on with your day.

Either way have fun!
