In other news, I walked 9/10ths of a mile today at lunch. I understand that this is not much compared to the sort of walking a lot of the folks on my flist are doing, but when you are a large fat sedentary slug such as myself, 9/10ths of a mile is nothing to sneeze at. It's a hell of a lot farther than I normally walk in a day, anyway. We'll just ignore the part where the reason I walked all that was to pick up fish and chips, won't we?

Walking has dropped me 10 pounds and my sweats are currently falling off my ass. I'm still slurping microwave pizzas doused in hot sauce and expresso brownies, but a lot of the general achiness I feel (leftover sciatica) tends to go away with brisk walking. Particularly if walking at 2AM across town aimlessly sucking on a whisky sour. There is something undocumented yet theraputic about that. 8-)

Oh, the point being that you don't have to walk 50 miles a day to see the benefit. 8-) I don't walk a whole lot right now, I just make sure that when I do, it's brisk. Getting the blood flowing strongly purges out a lot of sediment, like a thunderstorm will wash bodies and other detritus out of storm sewers. 8-)

Thanks, Mac. Charming as always, you are :)

Actually, yeah, I'm thinking anything is better than nothing, right?

Correct you are... putting $5 a payperiod into savings is not much, but after a year you've got the funds for Heartland! 8-)

And 19 cents left over, due to the miraculous power of compound interest.

Unless you put it into a money market account, with a stock OTHER than Sprint right now. 8-)

That's like my kind of meal!

What brands of pizza & hot sauce do you use, if you don't mind me asking?

My usual answer is "the ones at Costco!" but for those not feeding half a squad -

The Pizzas are Sabatasso's deep dish singles.
The Hot sauce is Franks Red Hot Chile -n- Lime.

The lip on the pizza allows you to get about 3/16" of hot sauce over the whole thing.

I dig, totally. I find my best long bicycle trips and/or aimless wandering happens after I've begun to medicate the pre-existing condition known as 'sobriety.'

As for sweats falling off... I know the feeling. [livejournal.com profile] kryssaira sees no end to the humor when I'm wearing one of my older pairs of shorts and carrying something I can't put down. The rest writes itself, hilarity ensues.
