You have not known a surreal experience until you try to have a conversation with your mother and your technophobic, mentally wandering, Ass. of God grandmother via webcam.

Grandma: Do you have contacts now? Your eyes look really, really blue.
Me: It's the Spice intake, it...
Mom (cutting me off): It's just the monitor, Mom. Don't worry about it.
Grandma: Spice? What does that...
Mom (cutting Grandma off): Don't worry about it, Mom.

*later, after I have sent them a sample of Super Roommate J's photography work, which involved our drafting chair and some stalks of wheat*
Grandma: Is he an Indian?
Me: I don't think so, no.
Grandma: What nationality is he?
Me: Chunky white boy?
Mom: Why did you think he was an Indian?
Grandma: Does he eat a lot of pancakes?
Me: Um.... not especially?
Grandma: Is he from Macon, Georgia?
Me: No, he's from here. Why do you ask?
Grandma: Well, I just thought... (trails off)
*I send another file, in which a pipe turns into Nanashi the corn snake*
Grandma (triumphantly): Now I know he's from Georgia!
Mom (in a soothing tone): Mom, why don't you come sit down over here. *Featherynscale*'s going to show us her cat. *Featherynscale*, go find your cat and show him to us.
Me: *Blinky?*

Can anyone elucidate that last conversation for me, or is Grandma just losing it?

Y'know...

Being one of the few in this fine group that's actually spent any time with your grandmother I'd have to point out that you're wondering weather or not your grandmother is lose-ING it. C'mon... this IS the same woman that was so afraid of a Scott Cunningham book and it's threat to your Good Christian Virtue that she tried to bind it. She's an absolutely lovely woman, but she didn't exactly have it when I met her TEN YEARS AGO, and I'm fairly certain that it wasn't a recent loss even back then.

Sure, she's never been really rational. But she used to have some connection to what was actually going on, you know. I mean, she was aware that the book was a book, and didn't think it was actually a spatula, or any of that sort of thing. (I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Cunningham book, anyway. I don't remember what it was, though.)

All I remember of it was the yellow cover & the illustration of the "bunch of hippies" dancing in a big circle. The fact that she invoked Jeasus' name to bind the book & pritect you from it's evil was what tickled me. Nanny's a witch, no matter who she venerates.
