My life is not an either or on this subject. Somethings happen to me (like my car accident last year, very much me being in the wrong place, wrong time). Somethings I cause to happen (wherein I make a conscious choice).

On one level, I believe that we causechoose things to happen in our life the way that they do. However, I forget this truth more often than I might care to admit and find myself asking "why is this happening to me" -- when i actually sit down and think, I can see how my choices, etc., have contributed to these events.
