LUST
LUST
"passion, awareness, aliveness"
You exhibit an excitement and enthusiasm about life
as well as multi-faceted creativity. You have
the gifts of perception, extended vision,
insight, and intuition and display an eagerness
to display your full creative expression. You
have the ability to fully express yourself,
free of lies and masks and falsehoods. You can
overcome your fears using your creativity, as
shown by the woman on the card.

Also, related to Thoth, but unrelated to Lust, I've been enjoying the Promethea comics [livejournal.com profile] gamera_spinning loaned me. The blend of magical concept and pop culture is very attractive to me, and I've been having a fine time playing spot-the-symbolism. (He also gave me a website address where one might find annotations to the comic describing such symbolism and other associated beasts, but I haven't looked at it yet. I'm saving that for later, when I'll go back and see what I missed.) Also, it's funny. Benny Solomon's demons, particularly, are cracking me up. "I'm Andras. I got thirty posses backing me up." It's a riot. At some point, the demons are trying to get in to a nightclub. "I'm Andras," he says, "I'm from the Howling." And the bouncer says "Listen, buddy, I never heard of your band." Pure weird comedy gold. And the art is gorgeous. And did I mention the blend of magical concepts and pop culture? There's a panel with two of the Prometheas travelling in an upturned poppy flower, past art deco plaques of the Sephiroth that I find particularly compelling. Also, atu road signs. Very funny. And then, there's [livejournal.com profile] jackbabalon23 today with his atu road signs. Lovely synchronicity.

Happy weekend, everybody.

I don't know just how far you've gotten in Promethea, but I will tell you that in Chapter Three of Book Four, you will learn that Promethea is an all-encompassing reflection of the woman pictured in the above card. Moore proves an immense knowledge of the esoteric in the series, specifically the Qabalah (not that red-yarn, Madonna crap -- the REAL THING) and its use and relevance to Rosicrucian and Thelemic initiatic/enlightenment systems, specifically, the Golden Dawn and Crowley's A.'.A.'.

Just so you know, I made the above comment. I didn't realize that I wasn't logged in when I posted it.

I think I would have imagined it to be you.
And I'm quite impressed with Mr. Moore at the moment, even on first blush. Some of it is already proving useful in the way that the whole occultism line sorts itself out in my head.

I did a quick Google and discovered that Alan Moore is the writer of Promethea. Alan Moore is of course the comics writer that taught Neil Gaiman, and I figured I'd want to read him at some point. Promethea sounds like a good one to get into....
