2005 Santa Flaunt is in the books. I didn't take any pictures, but I think [livejournal.com profile] triadruid did, so go bother him about it.

The costuming was lighter than I'd like it to be -- must work on getting people more on to the dressing up part of the Flaunt. I farmed out my Santa suit ([livejournal.com profile] zylch got the jacket, and [livejournal.com profile] triadruid got the pants), and went as what [livejournal.com profile] niveus_tigris dubbed "Santa's Busty Helper", but which somehow looked more like Oscar Wilde as a Christmas elf.

Went to Barley's Brewhaus, which has managed to work itself down my list of restaraunts from "Yeah! They're great!" to "Eh. Don't bother" largely on the weakness of their customer service and their continuing inability to serve me an Irish coffee. Of course, nobody in Kansas City seems to be able to serve me an Irish coffee on the first go-round anyway, so maybe there are larger forces at work and Barley's is not to blame at all.

Followed it up by doing some Bad Santa Bowling, which was every bit as stupid as it sounds, but a good deal more funny, and a good time was had by all. Simpson was particularly a star, as we convinced him to put on the Goat Pants (doing double duty as Reindeer Pants) for this portion of the experience. The Goat Pants, if you have not seen them, are exactly what they sound like. They are large, plush, and padded, with hooves, and a little tail. Simpson astonished us all by not only being able to bowl in the Goat Pants, but also by bowling better in the Pants than he had previously.

Retired to Haven for some further company, consumption of beverages, and a viewing of Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton. This was also a good deal more funny than it had any right to be. We had some discussion of dropping by [livejournal.com profile] starwyse's party at some point, but by the time we finished the film it was quite late, and we figured there wouldn't be anybody over there still anyway. Maybe next time.

In upcoming Flaunt news, at some point in the Spring, we'll be doing a Rock Star flaunt. Comments and suggestions on that should go to me or to [livejournal.com profile] sxypaganmom.

Irish coffee is coffee with Irish whiskey. Sometimes it also implies whipped cream on top, and sometimes even creme de menthe on top of the whipped cream, but fundamentally, it's coffee and whiskey. This is crucial because it allows you to get stimulants and depressants in the same cup.

I ordered one on Saturday, and it came to me cold. So I sent it back, and then was informed that the cup I sent back constituted the last of the coffee and the last of the whiskey, but that coffee could be brewed if I wanted some other coffee drink.

So I ordered a Bailey's and coffee, that being the next best thing (if you consider that I'm using the word next only to mean "closer than anything else" and not to actually mean "close"). They brought me a shot of Bailey's in a coffee cup. About fifteen minutes later, they came round again and poured some coffee in the top.

One of the other flaunters also ordered an Irish coffee (at the other end of the table, from a different server), and was told "This is a Brewpub. We have a lot of beer. Why don't you order a beer?".

I think you can see why this was annoying :)

Very annoying. and that would turn me off too, even if the food was decent. I can make good food at home, I'm paying to be waited on and taken care of lol.

sarcastic comeback, re:order a beer

"I am a customer. I have money I want to spend, here. Why don't you help me spend that money, here, instead of somewhere else?"

Honestly. And some waiters/waitresses wonder why they don't get good tips.

And yay! for Santa bowling...although to be perfectly honest (and this is said with much lurve, mind you)I'm having a very difficult time imagining you bowling. So yay! also for doing something unexpected.

But I've never seen you bowl. And I didn't say I couldn't imagine you being good at it...face it honey, you got mad skills in most if not all of the things you try...it's just I'm having a very difficult time imagining you and bowling existing in the same place and time. Much like country line/polka/tap dancing, riding rodeo, cheerleading, and owning or driving a minvan, bowling is not something I would have ever pictured you doing.

But I do now. Hee.
