Went out yesterday to do the dreaded holiday shopping. I got about 60% of it done, but the rest will have to wait until next check, as I'm drifting close to broke now. Yesterday was apparently a good choice though, since it's apparently going to snow tonight.

Also, in the name of seasonal joy, I will share this with you. Last night when I was in Borders, I suffered from a lengthy fit of sneezing. I don't know what's up with that, but I've been sneexing constantly for the last several days. Antihistamines, decongestants, antiseptic nasal sprays all fail before the power of my sneezing. So anyway, I'm in Borders, I have an unpurchased gift under my arm, and I start sneezing. Not just like once or twice, but like twenty or twenty-five times. Eventually, I manage to break the cycle, and look up to see a ring of horrified shoppers around me, looking at me like, "Oh god, she's got ebola or something." So that's fun. :)

To prevent Ebola, try to not eat fruit bats from the Congo. I know what you're thinking, how am I supposed to refuse perfectly good fruitbat pie, fruitbat tart, and the ever-popular, Fruitbatcake, particularly at this time of the year wen it's so often a staple at holiday functions. Be strong. When Uncle Earl's fruitbatbasket arrives, you should resist temptation.

That being said, a humidifier is an invention of unparalleled value. The air gets so damned dry.

I was thinking of giving up the eating of fruit bats for Lent.

I was thinking the same thing, particularly since it's so high in calories. One wonders if a lighter version is available, perhaps made with Splenda?

I'm fairly sure I have fruit bat souffle in a cookbook, splenda would make a splendid subsitute, for the sugar, not the fruit bat.

I think you can substitute gerbil for fruitbat...

What, you don't get the winged gerbils where you live? You just haven't LIVED until you've seen a flock of gerbils come in for a landing!

Stupid TN. No flying gerbils, another reason to want to go home.
I don't remember any in New orleans either, but we have rats the size of cocker spaniels. They can call them nutrias if they want, but they aren't anything but big old rats. Really big rats.

Over here, we've got Flying Hamsters. Fighting flying hamsters, of Calontir, even.

People who are from here laugh at you when you say that, you know? They think it's humid.

That's okay, let them laugh like a pack of hyenas sharing a tank of nitrous oxide, I lived in Florida for many years, and I know humid.

I'd pay good money to see you laugh like a hyena on nitrous, actually...

I'm fairly certain you'll have to get a tank of nitrous, and possibly a hyena mask, first...

I support it. If there's anything our household needs, it's nitrous!

...and more dressing up!

I miss the humidity! I forget what it was like to have lizard skin and get shocked every time I touch something. It was a nice kind of forgetfullness.
