Two musical memes:

A. Ten songs I really like right now, irrespective of time or genre:
  • "Half Jack" - The Dresden Dolls
  • "Tupelo" - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
  • "Here's Where the Story Ends" - The Sundays (I have no idea what this song is about, and suspect that it might be about venereal disease, but hey, I like the sound of it, and you can't tell what half the words are anyway.)
  • "Chocolate" - Snow Patrol
  • "Counting Bodies Like Sheep To the Rythm of the War Drums" - A Perfect Circle
  • "Jack the Ripper" - The Smiths
  • "Somebody Told Me" - The Killers
  • "Ice Cream" - Sarah McLachlan
  • "Under the Milky Way" - The Church
  • "BYOB" - System of a Down

Mmm. Hall and Oates. And Boz Scaggs. And 10cc. And especially Bee Gees. Only not so much this era. You would very much approve of 10cc. And the song "Ariel." I'll post the lyrics in my journal so I can make a cut.

This was my junior year in high school. Can you tell much?

Interesting results on Fleetwood Mac and Eagles - some songs approved, some not. And I'd make the sme choices for both.

But I was four or five then. Many of these songs are irrevocably burned into my brain.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Eagles. This possibly stems from the fact that I took a road trip with my parents when I was 11 or 12, from Phoenix up to Denver. This was like a week and a half from Hell. And during it all, One Eagles Tape. Over and over and over again. Granted, it was Eagles Live, so I think that's a double album, But Still.

Muscrat Love is the most hidious type of earworm. Oh, dear god!

Da Doo Ron Ron, Shaun Cassidy

I had a crush on Shaun Cassidy, as did every other 11 year old girl at the time.

OMG! The Rubberband Man! That was such a cool song! Staples used it in a TV commercial recently.

I think Livin' Thing might be my favorite from that list, but there are some good songs there. Did you underline one as your favorite? I might have missed it.

Oh man. Livin' Thing makes me want to stick a pencil in my eye. If I had a bottom 100 songs of all time, that would definitely make the list... maybe that will be the next game - List your least favorite songs ever.

Also, not doing the TV thing, then, means I have missed the Rubberband Man song twice.

And I did forget the favorite. I think it's gotta be Queen - Somebody to Love. Though I also really like the Cantina Band Song... funny that that's even in there. I don't think movie score songs chart anymore, or at least not on the pop charts.

I also had a crush on Shaun Cassidy. He was so cute!! Now, not so much. I even had the Da Doo Ron Ron album, and had memorized the words. Phew, eleven year old girls are weird. :D

Nice current songs! I just assumed that Sundays song was about her breaking up with somebody. She's always breaking up with somebody, or kicking them in the balls, or something like that. It makes sense that there would be VD and then unceremonious dumping.
