Must... stop... looking at Superdickery.com. World...depends on...thinking...Batman...is straight.
Agh!

You know, I used to wonder why people thought Batman and Robin were a couple... I mean, sure, Dick lived with Bruce, and all, and when he changed into his supersuit he didn't get any pants, but I mean, come on. But no. Now I understand.

Yep. It's true. Simple things amuse simple people.

(And I blame [livejournal.com profile] sannion.)

Some of those were absolutely hysterical. I can't believe that the authors and artists didn't know what they were doing. I mean, they just had to!

And my God, I never realized that Superman was such a dick!

Oh, man. I have always known that Superman was a dick -- I haven't even gotten to that part yet. I got hung up in the innuendo and Wonder Woman bondage.

Those are some of the best.

And, come on. How many times did get WW get tied up? Sure, it's hot - and probably very appealing to `14 yo boys - but she's supposed to be a super hero!

It's all in the audience. The vast majority of comic-book readership was, and is still, persons of the penis-bearing persuasion ranging from 13-30.

Besides, all superheroes get messed up. It's part of the game -- the standard comic plot is "Hero meets villain, villain beats hero, hero makes miraculous recovery and beats the snot out of villain, everyone is happy ever after, except Spiderman, who's neurotic and insecure anyway." It's just that when Superman gets messed up, there's less potential percentage in drawing Supes in bondage... he just gets beat up and left sprawled on the ground. Still helpless, but in a less sexually obvious way.

Is it still slash if it's Batman? I mean, I think that there is a time-honored tradition of speculation about Batman and Robin's other adventures that predates slash fiction. Or, possibly, slash fiction is also as old as time itself, and it was only with the popularization of the internet that people were able to inflict it freely upon others. Hard to say.

True... of course I'm not a batman expert; the TV show is still my favorite.
