Congratulations to [livejournal.com profile] chaosdruid and [livejournal.com profile] niveus_tigris, who tied the proverbial knot this weekend.

Thank you also to them for pulling off the act in such a gracious, classy way.

You might not think that you could apply the terms 'gracious' and 'classy' to an event that included extreme lawn darts, mass sarong-wearing, and an epic-level watergun fight. But only if you hadn't been to the wedding. The principals invested a lot of their energy in making sure that their guests were comfortable and having a good time, which is something that one seldom sees in the world of weddings. And consequently, I had a fabulous time.

Particular point: the bouquet-toss. I hate this. Like a lot of things, I don't mind if other people do it, but I don't at all want to be involved in it. Rather than forcing all of the women in the group who happen to be unmarried to stand up and have people look at them as they either fight and claw for the damned thing or try to slink away unnoticed, [livejournal.com profile] chaosdruid reportedly scanned the crowd for all the attendant women who were not only unmarried, but also straight (and thus able to legally marry in the midwest), in a long-term relationship, and interested in the concept of marriage. There being apparently only one person fitting the description present, [livejournal.com profile] chaosdruid just handed her the thing, saving the rest of us who don't really qualify anyway a lot of angst. Much friendlier that way. I know that most people don't attach any significance to this thing, but still, a symbol is a symbol, and that's a symbol I don't want to have to deal with.

Also, the cake was compelling. If I should ever need a fabulous cake for anything, I know who to go to. This woman built them a cake like a mountain, with a waterfall, and pine trees, and little animals, and plant life and caves... which would be compelling enough, but wow, it also was actually tasty, unlike most wedding cake which tastes a lot like cardboard covered in almond paste. Seriously. If you're in the Kansas City area, and need cake, Phyllis Hildebrandt, I think is this woman's name.

In our storied tradition of looking for trouble, we were keeping our eyes open for [livejournal.com profile] chaosdruid's issue-laden brother, but either he didn't come, or he was well-behaved. So not even any major drama. Well done, kids, congratulations and best wishes.

...pronounce hellfire and dalmations...

Damn, I've never had anyone pronounce dalmations on me. Lucky bitch.
