I'm glad I got out of bed today.

For a number of reasons, but not least among them: the possibility of going to DragonCon with [livejournal.com profile] wildnsquirrelly was raised. For a brief shining moment I'm seven, hopping up and down and squealing, imploring the cosmos, "Please, please, please, can I go to DragonCon? I'll be good, I promise!" (There's a lot of it going around today -- see [livejournal.com profile] adammaker.)

So I start running the calculations... $225 for a plane ticket, $65 for entry at the con... say $200 for hotel (I've done my time sleeping on the con hotel floor -- I'm too old for that, and the sort of costuming I now tend to favor has too many sharp bits. In the immortal words of Eddie Izzard, "You'll cut your bits off like that!")... I think I can manage it, maybe. No need for a car, you can get everywhere you need to go on the MARTA, so that's good.

I should totally go. Other people should totally go with me.

DragonCon (http://www.dragoncon.com) is the biggest sci-fi, fantasy, and comic convention in the US. A long weekend of films, contests, parties, concerts, discussion, shopping, drumming, gaming, etc. With costumes.

You failed to mention some of the more *fluid-involving* activities that go on there. ;)

Sure. Drinking and fucking, but I figure that's implicit in "partying".
