I'm glad I got out of bed today.

For a number of reasons, but not least among them: the possibility of going to DragonCon with [livejournal.com profile] wildnsquirrelly was raised. For a brief shining moment I'm seven, hopping up and down and squealing, imploring the cosmos, "Please, please, please, can I go to DragonCon? I'll be good, I promise!" (There's a lot of it going around today -- see [livejournal.com profile] adammaker.)

So I start running the calculations... $225 for a plane ticket, $65 for entry at the con... say $200 for hotel (I've done my time sleeping on the con hotel floor -- I'm too old for that, and the sort of costuming I now tend to favor has too many sharp bits. In the immortal words of Eddie Izzard, "You'll cut your bits off like that!")... I think I can manage it, maybe. No need for a car, you can get everywhere you need to go on the MARTA, so that's good.

I should totally go. Other people should totally go with me.

And in the center ring...

Oh goody! The web page says that Joss Whedon is going to be there! If that's not an invitation to fan boydom (or fan girldom, depending on your component bits/frame of mind)I don't know what is.

I'm not a Whedon fan, as it turns out. Please do me the favor of not trying to convert me - Dan's been trying for years.

It does mean, however, that the contingent of monsters will be larger than usual, and I'm okay with that. :)

Hey, we agree on something. I don't like Joss Wheedon either.

But how does Wheedon = monsters? I mean, aside from vamps, which I already expected...

Yes, Whedon = Monsters because there was a *huge* variety of creatures that made appearances on his *shows*. Not *all* of the evil minions were vampires. Hell- not all of the vampires were evil minions. Guess you had to watch to understand. No big deal.

Oh, okay. I knew not all of the vamps were evil, I think in the 2.75 fragments of episodes I ever saw, there was the Spike + Buffy involvement, the Buffybot, and the "Key"... thingie.

No worries there. A person either likes his work or not. I hope you know by now that while I enjoy a good debate converting others to my way of thinking is not one of my personal goals. There are plenty of other folk around to pay homage to Mr. Whedon, and I'm sure your lack among them will be missed. As you say, there are *way* too many other monsters lurking about to warrant intense focus on even a honey-dipped creature such as yourself.
