I don't think my response adequately conveyed my reaction. The extensive listing and explanation of reasons why I probably won't move to KC was not intended to express that the suggestion or your concern was unwelcome; it was meant to show you just how seriously I considered your invitation.
I remain touched and honored, and grateful, for your advice and kind thoughts. I still find comfort in knowing that I would be welcome in your part of the world, should I ever choose to relocate away from the West Coast.
Thank you again; your friendship means a lot to me.
It's all okay -- I'm like 97% sure I was teasing about any rescinding of concern for your welfare. I like you, hence good wishes and concern occur. You are of course welcome in our part of the world whenever you should drop by and for however long you should choose to stay. Although, if it should come to pass that you've been sleeping at EHQ for more than a month or so, we'd probably ask you to start paying rent. Being communist, we like to share, but we're happier if *everybody* is sharing :)
I'm sorry to hear about the jaw thing, by the way. I'm also a TMJ sufferer. Mine rarely hurts, but gods, it makes some really exciting noises. Then again, most of my joints make really exciting noises, so eh. Have you considered surgery, or is it not that bad?
If I was staying at EHQ (I get "H.ead Q.uarters" but what is the 'E' for?) for more than a few weeks I would insist on paying rent, so no trouble there.
The TMJ isn't a full-fledged fucking flare-up (the 'fucking' is more emphatic than necessary, but I'm a sucker for alliteration), thank heavens. The last time I did have a F-F F F-up, my dentist told me that he could make me an orthodontic thingy to wear at night, but it would be expensive, and the condition would probably go away on its own. He was right, it did go away without intervention, so even if it got bad I would probably just cope until it got better again.
