featherynscale: Schmendrick the magician from The Last Unicorn (Default)

Can't seem to post an entry long enough to do the wrap-up for last round. Have tried 23 times, exactly. Perhaps two-line entry will work, and I can post the results later?

EDIT: Comments work, entries don't. Results of this round are in the comments to this post, so clicky, eh?

It's Glorious Discworld Fanwank Day, and I got my lilac underpants on and everything. So, here's the question for this round:

In 1965, Terry Pratchett was 16. He published his second short story this year, which contained the line "Brewer has taken to praying a lot. I think he was a fool to volunteer for this trip, but I suppose I can see his reasons.". What was the name of this short story, and what was it about?

Answers are screened, please submit by Tuesday morning.

Yesterday, I was sick as the proverbial dog. This may have been related to the chili-pepper pakora [livejournal.com profile] orcjohn and I had with dinner on Tuesday night, but dammit, if I can't eat deep-fried hot peppers, what good is living?
Anyway. So mostly I slept all day and then dicked around with various role-playing game paraphernalia for the rest of the afternoon. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid bought me a copy of Unearthed Arcana at the Half-Price Books the other week. I'm sad that we didn't have it when we started building the current campaign world. Some of the rule variations we made might have been better to be the rule variations published, but hell, it's too late now. We didn't need aquatic goblins anyway.
After that, [livejournal.com profile] triadruid came home and we put together our salvaged bookcases (we got them out of somebody else's trash last Bulky Item Pickup Day, because that's how we roll, apparently). They're now holding all of the religion books, which is good, because frankly, the religion books fit a lot better on two very tall bookcases than they did on the one very tall bookcase that had previously been housing them. I have been warned that simply because we seem to have some empty shelf space now, that is no reason to go out and buy a lot of new books. I consider myself thwarted.
Also, [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants' dad came by and dropped off a bunch of furniture that he was giving us from his old place, and some other stuff that they wouldn't let him put in his storage unit. Like large quantities of gasoline, and fertilizer. Our garage is now an explosion hazard. [livejournal.com profile] triadruid said he re-attached the smoke detectors downstairs, but I'm thinking, you know, if that all goes up, the smoke detector is going to be pretty damned irrelevant.
