Well, we thought this one might be a lot of things. The big winner in terms of votes was zerself, who posited that it might be a lump of silly putty going down a drain. Five points!

Next in line, kittenpants, who explained the Thing in terms of grinding flobberworm death. 3 votes for her.

Two points go to diermuid, who had a theory about the anonymous mating habits of pigs. The less said about that, the better.

Rounding out the round, one point each to 8elements (mouse in a drain), fionnabhar (tortellini in a drain), rfunk (car door lock), and sxypaganmom (high-tech hearing aid), for their answers.

But lo, it was none of these things. It was actually #9, a strawberry flan collapsing into a drain. One point each to lordkalkin, hekatatia, and infintysquared for being enlightened in the ways of flan.
