Holiday shopping
Oct. 24th, 2005 09:22 amIn violation of my own personal ethical code about preparing for a High Holiday before the preceding High Holiday has actually gone past, I started Yule/Christmas/Chaunukah/Kwanzaa/Winter Avarice shopping on Saturday. I didn't mean to. It was just one of those situations. I was there, it was there, it leapt up into my hand and said "
kittenpants would like me! Buy me for her!". And so I did.
This is all well and good as far as it goes. But it opens up my consciousness to an uncomfortable fact: although
kittenpants is certainly one of the most important people on my list of people to buy holiday gifts for, she's far from the only person on the list. There's a whole crowd of folks floating around out there that I have put no thought into holiday gifts for at this time, and holiday shopping, like an abnormally bright and tinsel-covered Cthulhu Mythos ritual, must be completed once it has begun.
So I have this clever thought. I have an Amazon wishlist. It's in my profile. I bet a lot of you other clever internet types also have wishlists at Amazon, and in other places across the web. So do me a favor, will you? Link me to your wishlists. This will not be the sole determinant of your place on my holiday shopping list, but it could seriously move you up the list. I'm all about spreading the joy in a relatively stress-free manner, you know?
