I think you should know this about me
Jun. 18th, 2004 01:44 pmI disagree with you. I don't know what about, but I am over 97% certain that I disagree with you about something, somewhere. Maybe it's a big something, a core principle, whether or not the universe has meaning, or what the right direction for the country to go in might be. Maybe it's a little something, a matter of preference, whether you look better with brown hair or blue, whether or not the movie was any good. But something, somewhere.
And I'm going to tell you when I do, if you ask, or if you just mention whatever it is in a context and tone that invites conversation. I'm not trying to piss you off. I'm not trying to invalidate you, or even the view that you're currently holding out. If I didn't dislike you before you gave whatever statement I'm disagreeing with, odds are really good that I'm still not going to dislike you after. I'm not going to try and get you to change your mind. I may or may not change mine.
All I'm doing is offering a different perspective. My opinions are worth no more and no less than anyone else's on this earth. Not even to me. I want to know why you think what you think. I want you to know why I think what I think. It's not a personal attack. It's not a malicious act. Just an understanding that there is more than one way to look at everything. That's all.
